Answer This Question

Hi! The dimensions of the individual chips of our Metro Dog Bone Basket Weave are 0.95 inches x 2.25 inches for the white and 0.58 inches for the black square. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652.

I want to use this pattern on the floor of our kitchen and create a "rug" look. Do you offer a border tile or trim for this? The trim pieces suggested in other answers won't work on the floor.

      Answer This Question

Without knowing what size the area is that you are tiling, it's hard to suggest a practical solution. I'm thinking it's not a very big area. If I'm wrong, you may not want to do this. Mark the white tiles that extend over the edge even with two white tiles on either side of it. Then pop off the marked tiles and cut them on the mark. Put the bigger piece back where it came from and the smaller piece in one of the gaps on the opposite side of the sheet. When you're done it should be even on all sides. Then find a comparable tile for the border. I'd go with a gloss black finish to match the small squares. Hope this helped.

I think border tile work better I like black color ,

        By|May 7, 2019

The only thing I could think of that would allow you to use this tile to create a "rug" look would be to snip off the end pieces and then border with black subway tile.

          By|May 7, 2019

You would have to cut the “odd” pieces sticking out and add them to the voids on the other 2 sides to make it a square than place the border tile you choose to make a rug look.

Are these tiles appropriate for a shower floor?

                Answer This Question

I would say yes. We installed it on the bathroom floor. The smaller tiles create a less slippery surface that would be a good shower floor.

Hi, Tom! Yes our Metro Dog Bone is suitable for shower floor installations as it is highly slip-resistant and ADA compliant. AS this is a mosaic, the grout lines can help contribute to the overall slip resistance. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

                      Answer This Question

Hi, Millie! For a space that covers 60 square feet, you will need to purchase a minimum of 78 sheets as each sheet covers 0.77 square foot. This does not account for the grout joints between each tile. To account for the recommended 10% overage for cutting, future repairs, dye lot and caliber consistency, we would recommend purchasing 86 sheets. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

                      By|Apr 12, 2019

Each tile was being sold individually and you will need at least 78 tiles for a 60 sq. ft. bathroom floor.

We used sanded grout. Installed on our bathroom floor. Also, use a darker color to enhance the basket weave. If you use a white grout it will come out looking like white tiles with black dots and no basket weave.

I used non-sanded grout because the space is 1/8" or less and it worked great. I also used a grey grout....amazing!

                              By|Mar 6, 2019

Hi, JenX! Based on grout size, we would recommend using unsanded grout with our Metro Basket Weave Matter White and Black Tile. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to our customer service team at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

Has anyone had staining/discoloration issues right out of the box? Even before unwrapping the plastic of the individual mosaic sheets, you can see black/gray smudging and scuff marks on the white tiles (always the corner pieces of the sheet) At least half of the sheets I've got have this defect. Looks like sloppy handling/processing at the factory. Are there any recommended cleaning methods for this? I haven't installed this stuff yet, so I think I'm going to return a bunch of it and reorder. I tried to clean one sheet with your typical clorox bathroom tile cleaner, but it barely removed any of the surface discoloration.

I installed these tiles 2 years ago and I had no issues with the quality of the tiles. Not one sheet had what you described. You could work with the ones you have buy pulling off the defective tiles and replacing them good ones from another as you install them. It depends how many are damaged and if you have extra. But personally I would return and replace them since it appears they are defective. My floor looks great so I think you'll feel it was worth the hassle when it's finish.

It is actually the same basket weave design that was in the original 1930’s bathroom, just different colors; as it was previoulsy sea foam green and pink. Love the new look!

A gorgeous mosaic. Ordered 75 "sheets," for approximately 57.75 square feet. Each sheet was individually wrapped in clear plastic and 10 sheets per manufacturer's case. Tiles were shipped with the manufacturer's case surrounded by bubble pack inside a strong cardboard box. Several of the inside case looked banged up, but not the outside packing. As delivered, 15 of the 75 sheets had tiles with chips (mostly on tile corners). A very pleasant Home Depot "returns" person processed the return and offered to order replacements. Agreed. The replacements were all ok. The HD process was flawless and personnel were pleasant. Installation was in a new, second bathroom and done by professionals. They had no complaints about the tiles; some of the mosaic pieces (white ones) required trimming to fit the room and cut ok using their professional equipment. As I write this, they are applying white grout which really allows the black to visually "pop." The matte basket weave is beautifully complemented by matte white 3x6 subway tiles on the walls (4 feet). Photos: floor pre-grout, grouted floor, floor w/ walls

The glue holding the tiles onto the matrix is water soluble. So if you cut the tile with a saw that uses water, the tiles fall off the matrix creating a real mess. Also, the small black tiles seemed to have a glossy rather than mat finish. Once we eliminated the water from the saw, they were OK and looked good when down.

Hi! Thank you for sharing your feedback! We do want to clarify for you and future customers that when cutting mosaic tile, we recommend trimming the mesh to fit your space, then removing individual chips from the mesh and making individual cuts using a wet saw with a diamond tipped blade as that will offer the best cut with the least chance of breakage. Cut chips can then easily be set back in place. We stand behind the quality of our products and appreciate your feedback, if you have any other questions or concerns please contact us at 1-800-963-7652.
