Can this tile be used for shower floors?

Can this tile be used for shower floors?
Asked by: ALM
I wouldn't recommend it. I think with all that water, it would get too slick. Use something with more grout lines. I used this for the bathroom floor with variegated grey penny round on the shower floor. It's beautiful.

At 0.23 in. thickness is this ceramic tile suitable for a laundry room floor? I have been told (not by an expert) that it is only appropriate for walls. And, that the weight of the washer and dryer would be too heavy on this specific tile. Please advise. And, thank you for your help.
Asked by: Wally
Hi Wally, Yes, our Twenties Vintage would be a great choice to use on a laundry room floor. This tile has been installed in laundry rooms with great success by a number of our customers! People have installed stacking laundry appliances and claw foot tubs on this tile with no issue. Rest assured that despite the thin depth, this tile offers great durability. When preparing to lay any tile you need to make sure that the floor is completely level. Keep in mind that your tile is only as good as the surface it is attached to, so any tile can break with an improper subfloor. We encourage getting a local contractor involved if there is still uncertainty with the install. If you’re still hesitant, you could look into our Arte series https://thd.co/2BOp99D. The Arte series has a similar design to Twenties Vintage in a thicker, porcelain format. If you would like to determine if either Twenties Vintage or our Arte series is right for you, we offer samples at the Home Depot! To order a sample of Twenties Vintage, ensure under the option section that you have the sample version selected and hit “Add to Cart”. We offer samples of our Arte series but they are not full tile samples. Our Arte samples https://thd.co/2lySXQ7 come adhered to a 3”x4” sample card which offers a color and texture sample, not a look at the whole pattern. To be able to see the whole pattern, we recommend ordering one case. Please note that variation in color, shade and texture are inherent characteristics of glazed tile. Home Depot offers a 90-day return policy on all unused items returned in the full quantity they were sold in. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

Twenties Vintage Encaustic 7-3/4 in. x 7-3/4 in. Ceramic Floor and Wall Tile (11 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 243.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and looks awesome! Read through all the reviews before going with this tile for my kids’ bath reno. Very easy to work with and cut using a simple tile cutter. My first time tiling a floor and very happy with he results. I chose this because it’s ceramic so more durable than a true cement tile but still had same look. I wanted a timeless look that would work with the existing tub tile which was black and white. While this tile is a more charcoal/off white combo, I used white grout and feel that it blends well I also installed tile baseboards which are a true white and feel it still looked fine next to the floor tile. I ended up laying he tiles out and labeling each based on a grid pattern so that when it came time to thinset them in place I didn’t mess up the pattern. I found that I wouldn’t notice a pattern mistake until I stood up and had a greater perspective so wanted to ensure no mistakes and this approach worked great.

Their only complaint was it was a little difficult to cut because it is pretty thin. Other than that this product looks exactly like real cement tiles for about 1/10th the price. Due to the 4 t piece pattern you need way more than 10% overage because most cutoffs cannot be used in other areas. For instance an 18" tall backsplash requires 3 tiles. You cannot use the cutoffs. Also due to the pattern, layout is a little tricky, especially if you have 2 open ends or visible corners. I used a grout that blended well with the off white color. Website recommends bright white but in my opinion it stuck out like a sore thumb. I'm a professional house flipper and this tile backsplash is getting rave reviews from potential buyers. Numerous people have asked where they can get it. I can't think of a tile that would be a better bang (wow factor) for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get the look of encaustic cement tile without the hazzle of difficult install or expense! We have just installed this in our guest bathroom carrying a vintage theme thruout with artic white 3 x 6 subway tile in the shower, a free-standing maple double sink vanity (like a piece of furniture), Venato Extra Quartz on the counters (looks similar to marble but w/o the upkeep), Mirabella white undermount sinks, Moen vintage wall faucets in ORB. This floor makes a statement. If you are looking to have a farmhouse/vintage feel to your room, this is the tile for you or one of the other choices by Merola tile! We did use Dove Gray Fusion grout with an extra thin grout line. Because it was so thin, the perfectly matched charcoal gray color of the grout dried much lighter and came out a lighter gray. This is the only thing I regret as we did not do the grout lines wider and therefore did not have enough grout to pick of the true charcoal color and match the charcoal pattern in the tile. The background of the tile, FYI, is a very pale taupe gray color that looks a bit off-white in the pictures on the website. But it is stunning tile and everyone who sees it gasps at how beautiful it is!!! Hope to post pictures soon!

I installed it myself and had no issues at all. We chose Delorean Gray for the grout color because I didn't want white or off white, but also didn't want a really dark grout. It looks great. We have had it for a little over 5 months, and it has held up perfectly. No issues at all.
