      Answer This Question

Hello AVM2017, thank you for your question about our Midea 50 pt. Cube Dehumidifier. You have three options for draining the unit: manually from the tank itself, performing a continuous drain by unplugging the drain plug on the back to bypass the built-in bucket, or using the pump feature for automatic drainage. Have a great day! Midea Customer Support.

I understand you can use it without the wifi app. However is the machine always looking to connect or can I totally disable the wifi function on the machine?

                Answer This Question

Hello, Trenadora. Thanks for asking about the Midea 50 pt. Cube Dehumidifier. No, the machine does not have a permanent Wi-Fi toggle switch to completely turn off the internal antenna, but it is not constantly broadcasting or actively hunting for a connection. If you do not set up the smart features, the Wi-Fi module remains dormant in a passive standby state. Have a great day! Midea Customer Support

Junk. The continuous drain hose connector broke the week that I bought it. Couldn’t get replacement parts. Now I have to empty it daily and it weighs a ton. Don’t waste your money

Sensor Broken, Runs Hot - No Return - Unhappy Customer
I bought this and it was delivered about two weeks ago. When I set it up a few days ago, the humidity gauge was clearly not accurate. My gauge said 62, it said 36. I went ahead and ran it to see if it would unstick. It did not. I have two different dehumidifiers in different areas of the house, and they removed water without overheating the room. This one runs so hot, I had to turn it off because it was fighting the air conditioning. Home depot only accepts returns on UNUSED dehumidifiers and only within 7 days. MIDEA customer service wants me to get this to a MIDEA approved technician for repair of the sensor and they said that it is supposed to run that hot...so too bad so sad. It does take water out of the air, for now. That's why I gave it a 2 start but my guess is that this will completely break down just after the warranty. It appears, like so many, I am stuck with a paperweight. FREECYCLE Anyone? Moral of the story, read the fine print, Home Depot doesn't support its customers and there is a reason this was on sale....it is a substandard product.

Another bad humidity reading spoils design
I was hoping maybe I could escape the curse of the bad hygrometers, but I didn't. The reading is about 22%-24% too low which means you can't maintain a humidity level below about 55+% (35% minimum setting + error). It seems like a decent design if you want something you'll be running constantly, but I don't, so unless their email support team pulls a rabbit out of their hat (request number 998052 already sent), I expect it will be heading back to Home Depot as defective.

                        Great value money and product

The controls are intuitive and user-friendly, and features like the digital display and easy-access water tank make daily use simple and convenient.

Don't Buy - Google "Dehumidifer stuck at 30%"
Set it up, let it sit 24 hours, and then turned it on. The dehumidifier sensor was stuck at 30% from the start even though the basement is more than 60% humidity. Reading online appears to be a common non-repairable issue. It's not worth going through warranty repair just return it and get a different brand. I was hoping it was just a one off issue I Was reading about online but appears to be common.

Crapped out just out of warranty
We relied on the Midea 50 pint to keep our Florida condo under 60% humidity when it was unoccupied. It quit dehumidifying 15 months after purchase, just outside the one year warranty. Waste of money and worse yet, it gave us a false sense of security. Now I have to pay to get rid of it.

                                Junk Humidifier - decent ice-maker
Count me in to the club of very disappointed buyers of this poorly built and now useless waste of space. It lasted three weeks past its warranty and began icing up every time I use it. Midea is a terrible company which doesn’t stand behind its products. Probably because people keep buying their junk despite the bad - yet honest - reviews. Please take my advice and buy another brand. It can’t be worse than this quality-wise and you can’t do worse than Midea for service and integrity.
