Questions & Answers

What does this do to weeds?

We have a lot of patchy grass/weeds in the back yard because the previous owner had dogs that made bare spots in the grass - perfect places for weeds! Will this product make the weeds grow stronger as well as grass?
Asked by: 2sweet4most
Makes them grow like crazy. It is a low grade fertilizer afterall.

I think I may have over applied as my grass appears to have burnt, is there a way to undo this?

Asked by: shoeless
IF IN DOUBT? WATER IT OUT-- SET YOUR IRRAGATION SYSTEM TO PUT DOWN 1 INCH EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS ANOTHER WAY? CAN DIG UP THE BURNT GRASS AND 1-2 " DEEP - ADD NEW TOP SOIL AND THEN NEW GRASS SEED AND WATER DAILY AT 1/4" RATE PER DAY IN MID MORNING-- JUST LIKE PLANTING NEW GRASS SEED , EXCEPT YOUR DIGGING OUT POTENTIAL BAD CHEMICALS AND POLUUTED CONTAMINATED DIRT.. aND WHILE YOUR DIGGING OUT THAT CONTAMINATED SOIL AND GRASSES? LOOK FOR CHUBS, ETC? MAYBE THE ROOT CAUSE? THEN GO GET CHUBB KILLER ( aT THE HOME DEPOT OF COURSE) , OR DIG UP ENTIRE LAWN WITH A HAND SPADE AND REMOVE THE CHUBBS, 1 AT A TIME!( ASK THE WIFE AND KIDS TO HELP AND PAY THEM A dIME( 0.10) FOR EVERY CHUBB THEY FIND.. PUT IN A PLASTIC BAG AND THAT NITE? GO SCATTER THEM ON YOUR WORSE NEIGHBOORS LAWN( i DO THAT ALL THE TIME) HOPE THAT HELPS. Also if youk don't have this, add this to yuor list( An Wtering Irrigation system of Using 180 degree rainbird Sprinkler heads, liquid fertilizer box hooked up to the Watering system, auto time- set to put down 1/2" water a Week, will also have a senors if it rains and not go off.. "oVER 70% OF A GOOD LAWN COMES FROM wATERING!

Is this organic

Is this organic
Asked by: Jo
Don't be fooled by the middle 6 letters in Milorganite. This is brilliant marketing, and at least they are honest about the source and not dumping it into Lake Michigan. Pure humanure may be organic, particularly if the manure is from people who only consume organic products. But the residents and businesses of Milwaukee flush a lot of inorganic materials such as toilet paper, drugs and noxious chemicals down toilets/sewer drains as well. Despite being heat-treated, this product will never be considered truly organic by anyone who makes such certifications. I would not recommend eating fruit/vegetables grown in Milorganite, but it should be OK for your lawn as long as your pets/kids don't eat the grass.

I have heard that deer will not bother a garden when milorganite fertilizer is used, Any feedback on that?

Asked by: Eddie
I have been selling this product with the HD for 5 years and push the deer repellant aspect. As of yet I have had nothing but praise. Virginia has a very large deer population and using this product around gardens and flower beds works extremely well for 30 days easily.

32 lbs. Slow-Release Nitrogen Fertilizer is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 152.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from it works. really, really well So heres my take. This stuff is really good because its a slow release nitrogen fertilizer. I live in the northeast and i find the best time to apply this early spring and early fall; both applications should be right before a rainy stretch. Now its true that it wont burn your lawn HOWEVER this should not be your primary source of turf nourishment. The key to getting and establishing a good green lawn is proper timing and application with a good thought out fertilizer schedule- this should be used to augment regular fertilizer application (think lime) The best thing about this product is that it will not only green your grass right up after about a week or so but it will also considerably strengthen the roots which is essential for the summer. I have to say the only down side is the amount you need to properly cover your lawn. My property is approximately an acre and I go through about 26 bags per application. Definitely worth a try, you wont regret it!

If you do not like cutting your lawn a couple times of week because it will grow faster and is greener, do not apply both! I just enjoy cutting to take an inch off and to see the perfect lines in my lawn. I have very large pine and maple trees and well shaded so it is needed every year to keep my lawn very thick!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from milo is the way to go! I use milo reguraly on my lawn 4 times a season. I also use synthetics in spring and fall to get my pottasium levels up. Because milo does not contain potash. My lawn is always floursihing because of milo though!
