Will this check flourescent bulbs for tanning beds? They have the 2 pins on each end just like a standard flourescent bulb.

Asked by Rsmith8140 May 21, 2020

Answer

You should be able to check pin continuity and if there’s sufficient conductive material inside it. Depending on what type of ballast you have you may be able to check it also. Follow the directions that come with it and you should be set.

Is it brushless?

does this work on T12 bulbs single pin

No unfortunately not as far as pin testing goes it will only test double pin tubes and it will not test ballasts that are not electronic which would be most T12 ballast. It will test for tube leakage on any tube.

Does it work on T-5 lamps and ballasts?

I have used it for T5 and T12 lamps. I think the instructions say it works best for T8’s. But it has definitely helped me with all 3 sizes. For ballasts it works with electronic, but not so much old magnetic ballasts. But if you have a magnetic ballast and the fixture doesn’t work, the ballast needs replacing.

For months ive had my eye on this tester, probably closer to a year. It's always been sold at the price of $99 and some change. What happened?!?!

Answer

Hi Flip, since online prices and online/in-store offers can vary from region to region and can change at any time. First, determine if the item is stocked in-store as well as online. You find this by checking if there is a 'store SKU' on the product page, if there is no store SKU number, then the item is an online exclusive item and the deal is for the online merchandise only. Second, if the item does have a store SKU, please follow the steps below to localize your Homedepot.com to see if the item is stocked in your area: 1. Localize Homedepot.com using your zip code (My Store Location: Change) 2. Choose the store where you want to pick up the item (Make this my Store). Lastly, after localizing, we would advise you visit or contact your local Home Depot store for pricing and availability. However, if you are unable to see the store inventory or price it is most likely either not a stocked item in your area or no longer available for purchase from Homedepot.com. Thanks for shopping Home Depot!

This does not work for reading T5 bulbs on the pin testing feature. I bought this specifically for that as we have 162 light fixtures in our building with 6 bulbs and 2 ballasts each. It does work for T8 and T12 bulbs just wouldn't recommend this for T5's
