Q:Can this tool be used as a grinder to grind things and not just screw ?
      by|Aug 15, 2021
      5 Answers
      Answer This Question

A:  I don’t think so. The rpm’s are not enough for grinding and the impact function under load would not be ideal for grinding.

      by|Aug 18, 2021

A:  Yes, but a terrible idea. Turns too slow. Get an angle grinder. Even a right angle drill would be far better.

        by|Aug 18, 2021

A:  Not really doesn’t have a very high rpm we used it for the roof support cables on bay windows that were tight to the soffit with a 3/8 socket to drive in the support plate and bolts

          by|Sep 12, 2023

A:  Probably not, the RPMs won't be high enough and you won't be able to cut cut-off discs that will fit in the hexagonal bit holder. Buy an angle grinder, they are cheap and will do the job.

            by|Aug 17, 2021

A:  I don't believe you can use this great tool as a grinder. This little wonder is great for tight quarters. Buy a grinder. Use the correct tool for the job it was meant to do.

Q:Can it be used as manual ratchet like the impact ratchet to loosed the bolt first?

                Answer This Question

A:  No, it free spins. That being said it has quite a bit of power to it. Glad I purchased it.

                by|Jul 3, 2020

A:  No, it doesn’t have an internal ratcheting mechanism like the m12 ratchet does.

                by|Jan 12, 2022

A:  No. It does not engage load unless under power.

                  by|Nov 11, 2021

A:  No it will just turn

                    by|Mar 5, 2021

A:  No, this does not keep the bit from "free-wheeling" without power being applied. No power, no force.

Wish they would update this, the rotary tool, and the angle drill to brushless. Other than the rubber protective ring falling off constantly, this is a decent tool for specialty applications. Driving 4 1/2" Headlock screws into framing for a floating office countertop.

                      Great for complicated jobs
Another great Mlwaukee tool right angle profile allows access to screws and bolts that are in small and cramped spaces. Like with cars, trucks and around the house and my greenhouse. Tonight it came in handy again while stripping down a burned out electric moped. This tool came as bear tool. But I had a supply of m12 batteries this is the 2nd most used power tool in my toolbox. Add this one to you're tool box.

                      Great power! Great Design!
At first I thought I should have held out for the 18v for the power but I was looking for the smallest right angle impact I could find and the 12v fit the bill. I do a lot of remodeling and tearing out as little as possible to do something is key. I was surprised how easy is to repeatedly drive 3" screws. I've used this all day before with a couple of 2.0xc batteries even when I didn't need it for a tight spot. I use it working on the cars too. just a wonderful, reliable tool. i like the metal construction at the neck. and the locking locking bit head like on my 18v impact. The battery packs make a huge differnce in the 12v lineup. get the 2.0 and 4.0xc batteries for max performance.

                      Nice driver overall
I am thoroughly surprised with hoe well this driver performs. My initial thoughts led me to believe that it would be hard to keep the driver in a screw head, even with the impact function, the same way that it is for a right angle drill. The impact action truly does work well with this driver. I was able to drive many types and lengths of screws into different types of woods, with and without pilot holes, and the driver performed quite well. The lever action of holding the driver and keeping the bit in the screw did not put terrible strain on my wrist, however it is not a replacement for a tradition pistol grip driver. The lever action against your wrist does cause muscle strain much quicker than with a pistol grip driver. I was able to successfully drive various screws and lengths into different woods, however it did start to have trouble on aged woods, 50+ years. This is expected of such a small form factor driver. The kit came with a nice little carrying case, which holds the driver, a charger, and a battery. The case also has a mesh pouch for literature. This case is not important to me, it takes up too much space in my daily rig. For more of a homeowner, it makes storage organization much nicer to deal with. An issue for me though is now big the driver is, as far as the diameter of the tool. I do not have the biggest hands, but this thing is a little bit awkward to use one-handed. It is definitely do-able, but it just doesnt quite feel right in my hands. Your mileage may vary. The tool feels very well-built and sturdy. Battery life is decent. Works better than I expected, as I thought that a right-angle impact seemed like a gimmick tool made just to boost sales, but I am pleasantly surprised.

                      Compact Driver
This compact right angle impact driver can be a lifesaver when you've got to drive fasteners in confined spaces. I recently used it to put up a valance box, and fastening it to the wall required a mere 6" of clearance for the bit, screw, and driver combined. With a 2" bit driving a 1.5" screw, this driver made the project a piece of cake. The head depth to the end of the 1/4" hex quick access chuck is just 2-1/4", with a head diameter of 1.4". The chuck accepts down to 1" bits, so it barely adds any length to the head depth at all - just enough that a Phillips bit won't cam out. Bigger bits aren't a problem either, and I even used an impact rated 1/2" drill bit with the driver in my review video. The LED at the front is angled perfectly to illuminate the area from the end of the chuck to about 3" out, where the fastener will be starting on the work piece. The paddle trigger allows for using the impact driver with a variety of grip positions, but it's much easier to activate while holding it at the battery end of the tool. The variable speed trigger allows for quick driving of fasteners, with enough finesse to set screw heads perfectly flush with the work surface. I'm really impressed with the power that Milwaukee squeezed out of their M12 platform. This impact driver offers a max torque of 600 in-lbs, which is just 75 in-lbs less than its bigger brother, the M18 right angle impact driver. All of this with a brushed motor too, as this driver isn't part of the FUEL lineup. I ran an endurance test, and one 1.5Ah battery managed to put eighty 1/2" holes through a pine 2x4. The power didn't drop off until right at the very end of the battery life either. By the time I was finished, the right angle gearbox was pretty warm, but it wasn't too hot to touch and hold.

Compact, Lightweight and powerful. Designed for use in tight spaces. Love it!
The compact design of this driver lets you get at nuts, bolts and threaded fasteners with ease. I find myself reaching for this driver in just about every situation requiring the use of a ratchet, wrench, drill or screwdriver. The ruggedized, ergonomically designed handle allows for on-hand operation, is comfortable for extended periods of use, and features a keyless chuck, large on/off compression trigger and LED light that illuminates your work. This kit includes a lithium-ion battery, charger station. and soft-sided nylon carrying case. The charger station, however, does not include a place to store the driver when not in use, which would have been convenient. Further, the battery must be removed from the tool in order to charge it, and no bits are included. Minor quirks aside, this driver is my ‘go-to’ tool for home improvement projects, as well as assembly and dissassembly of most everything, especially RTA furniture. An excellent choice for tight space. Its compact design means it takes up little space in my tool box. This driver is capable of doing jobs that ordinarily would require multiple tools. This driver from Milwaukee is one of my favorite tools. A worthwhile addition to your arsenal of tools.

A blessing to have when you need it
I've been using this new M12 right-angle impact driver on the job for the last week or so, and I am very glad that I decided to add it to my arsenal. This durable, well-built and well-designed tool is a fantastic addition to the Milwaukee M12 line. Just today, I used it to drive 3" drywall screws, installing blocking for my device boxes in some tight spots. The tool had no trouble driving them. In fact, with 50 ft/lbs of torque, it was pretty much effortless. I also used it installing some recessed lighting cans, and drilling some holes for my wiring in some tight spots. I was very glad to have had it with me. With it's ability to hold 1" hex bits directly, without a bit holder - something I've never known any 1/4" hex driver to be able to do - it can really get you into some tight spaces. The tool is rugged, well-balanced. The extended paddle switch is a great feature, making it easy to trigger in a variety of positions. The ample rubber overmold helps ensure a good grip on the tool, and will be something I'm sure that I'll really appreciate come the heat of summer.
