I would add worm casting to the soil, 50/50, mix it in well. I personally think it's too rich to use it by itself. By "elevated planter bed" do you mean raised bed. The idea would be the same. You can add it to the raised bed, mix it in well with the soil. Finally, worm casting is growth promoter/fertilizer. You can add it to all your plants. Your plants will be very happy.
1 -1.5 inches evenly across the top of the bed.
Its a little thick to use on a spreader.
The NPK is listed on the back of the bag. 1-0-0
Compost and composting are different from worm casting. In worms, you're using red worms or composting worms to break down the organic matter that turns into rich fertilizer for your garden. The worms will consume the partially decomposed matter and turn it into worm casting or worm poo. The two processes are very different. In a normal (hot composting) you need to add the right ratios of nitrogen and carbon to generate enough heat to break down the organic materials (leaves, branches, grasses, cardboard, etc.) Your compost pile must have certain mass (3 ft by 3 ft). This basic guideline must be met or else your hot compost won't work. The materials will not decompose and it will not turn into "compost." There no need to add worm casting to your compost. You just wasting your money. Buy the organic worm casting and add to your garden soil, container, raised bed, etc. Your plants will be very happy to receive this rich organic fertilizer. Hope that help.

Typically 5 yrs. for good quality castings. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
You can combine them, but you won't need as much fertilizer if you use this product.
