Product Overview

Whenever a Fruit Growing Organization conducts a taste competition, Flavortop is always ranked among the best nectarines. It has a delicately sweet flavor much akin to the stone fruits grown in warm Southern states like Georgia, yet the sugary flavor within doesn't overpower the complex citrusy undertones which are most prevalent in the Northern grown nectarines. Flavortop is the modern breakout nectarine cultivar and the pinnacle of flavor among them all.
  • Contains a powerfully sweet yet citrusy flavor
  • Flavortop is self-pollinating
  • Flavortop is an incredibly vigorous tree
  • Always ranked among the best-tasting nectarines
  • Pinnacle of nectarine flavor

I have never grown any fruit trees so I did not know what to expect. The tree shipped in a box with no instructions making it difficult to determine how to care for it. I read that the tree could be grown in a pot so I decided to try planting it in a container. The tree did not survive and I'm not sure why. It arrived with no leaves so it was difficult to determine the state of the tree health wise. The tree came with an unhelpful postcard soliciting reviews instead of sharing with the buyer how to care for it which annoyed me the most. Even when going to the website, there still wasn't any assistance on how to care for the tree. I would not recommend this product for novices. I was disappointed that the tree did not survive.

no tag
My Nectarine tree arrived today or what I think is a Nectarine tree. It came without tags, hardly no roots. Poor packaging. Will not order online again, will just wait till its in the store.

    Little to no roots
Received plant and unpacked right away. All top branches cut, all major roots cut. Only a tiny root left. Poor care given to plant prep for shipping. Planted and hoping it survives

ONLINE ORCHARDS FLAVORTIP NECTARINE TREE BARE ROOT i was hesitant about ordering a bare root tree off of the internet but I’m happy that I did. The tree comes in a box with it’s roots wrapped in wet straw and burlap, not plastic which causes the roots to mold. A couple of the small limbs did break off but not enough to really be concerned. The straw had dried out by the time I was ready to plant (our ground here is still frozen so I had to plant it in a pot) so I was really worried that the tree might be dead. I needn’t have worried. After I let it soak in a bucket of water for 24 hours there were little buds popping on the limbs already! And then to find out that this type doesn’t need a pollinator? Huge bonus! Can’t wait to have delicious, fresh nectarines!

There is really no way to rate this product after only a week. The bare root tree came without any instructions, so I went online and following those directions I planted the tree in a hole about 18 inches deep with a mixture of topsoil and compost. I added a high-grade fruit tree fertilizer mix and watered the tree in well. I should know by next season how the tree grows.

Trees arrived in a timely manner for planting. They were well-packed and well-wrapped with damp straw around the root ball and burlap around all of that. They were easy to unwrap and easy to plant. The roots were not too long or too short and were in good shape, which made planting easy. We look forward to watching them grow and enjoying their fruit in the near future.

Online Orchards Flavortop Nectarine Tree Bare Root We live in Florida and are determined to have an orchard of many types of fruit Nectarines are bit easier to grow. This variety is self-pollinating. Good thing as we only have one. It was properly pruned back to about 30 inches. Looks a little bare when it first comes in but it is the best way to get a good, hardee tree. It was supple. You could bend the branches without snapping them off due to dryness. Over the years I come to appreciate growing a bare root tree. Chances of survival when properly looked after increase. Ever notice when you try to plant a smaller potted tree most if not all the leaves fall off anyway? That tree is in shock and likely to die. Bare root trees generally do much better. Remember to prep the bed so the roots can spread out. About 5 feet round should do it. Buds showed up within 2 weeks

The bare root Online Orchards Flavortop Nectarine Tree arrived carefully packed in a light weight easy to handle box with the roots packed in straw and burlap to maintain moisture. The tree is about 4 feet tall, carefully trimmed, both roots and stems, all around for good growth and even branches for even branches in the growing season. The tree is substantial, not a tiny twig as some bare root plants I've seen. You will not be starting out with a foot-high thin plant. Since the ground is still frozen here in the Boston area, I downloaded the planting instructions from the website, soaked the roots for a couple of hours and planted in a large pot. I will replant it when the frost is gone being careful to keep the root ball intact. Of course, I cannot comment on the fruit at this time but the tree looks very healthy.

I have never planted a fruit tree before so it is hard to say how it will do. I can say that it comes well wrapped in straw surrounded by burlap, has a good root system, and tied to keep everything together. The planting instructions were simple enough so I have high hopes that these will bear fruit if not this year, maybe by the next. This nectarine tree was so bowed you could have strung it up and shot arrows with it but I planted it as straight as I could. I may need to train it as it grows so that it grows straight.

This tree arrived in better condition than I thought it would, especially since it was shipped through the post office. Planting instructions were easy enough; I followed them exactly, but I'm still worried that this isn't a good time to plant a tree. I'm guessing the people who sell these know more about that than I do, though. I'm not sure how long it's supposed to take for it to start producing fruit, but I'm looking forward to enjoying some fresh nectarines.
