Is pc-11 potable?

Can it be used in a container that stores drinking water?
Asked by: mrfixit
I think NOT (but this is just a guess). My reasoning is that the components us formaldehyde, polymer with 1,3 dimethylbenzene. SO, if you did not thoroughly mix the components so that they became completely inert, and these (and other) "nasties" were rendered inert, this could leach into the water ... and while in small enough amounts it probably (for practical purposes) does NOT matter, if you are using this on a job for someone else, where this would be a consistent use of drinking water ... I might look into other solutions. Will product fix a cracked fiberglass tub floor? Will it take the "flexing" of the floor when walked on? If not can you recommend something?

Asked by: corby
If the tub floor is flexing, I would take a couple of cans of spray foam, with long enough "Straws/tubes? attached, and shoot the foam between the subfloor and the tub. Once the foam hardens, you will no longer have a flexing tub. Been there, done that. When desirable, one part of A to two parts B may be used to increase elasticity.

This is a particularly wonderful epoxy that I have used for many years to solve otherwise difficult problems. One caveat: Mixing is harder than many other epoxies. It is thick and requires some effort to make certain you have thoroughly mixed the components; but the effort is often worth it. NOTE: Every epoxy (or other bonding material, e.g., glues, adhesives, cements, ...) each have their own use. The niche this one fills is somewhat unique. First it does not drip or sag when applied. For applications where keeping the epoxy in-place while it sets might be a problem, this addresses that. Thus you can use it to connect awkwardly placed parts or even created shapes / missing pieces of a part. Secondly it bonds and sets in the presence of water (and holds up well in submerged applications -- never had a failure). I use this in many plumbing applications and environments that have a lot of present water or are watery (some epoxies that maybe great in your engine might get soft when soaked in water -- an interesting irony). AND I would not use this for high-temp applications (useful temp range -20 to 200 F) Clean-up? I alternate between acetone and baby oil, before setting -- once hard ... no idea. If you get acetone on your hands, a follow-up with baby oil helps to minimize the drying out effects. Some times I might use a little acetone on a cotton swab (just a bit) to shape the final service / get a smooth effect (I imagine overdoing it might lessen the strength of the final product -- so I go lightly). NET: This is one of my go-to solutions for when all else fails; I **always** keep some handy!
