The PRO-LAB Lead in Water test kit offers you an accurate water analysis to EPA proficiency standards revealing the amount of lead in your water to as little as 1 PPB.It is estimated that more than 3 million children in the United States have lead poisoning. Lead is a toxic metal that has been used in the past by manufacturers to make faucets, fixtures and copper pipe solder. Even "lead free" plumbing may contain up to 8% lead. Although lead was banned in 1986 in the manufacture of all fixtures, pipes and solder, it is estimated to still be in the pipes of over 90% of all homes in the U.S. Lead is dissolved into your drinking water from pipes, solder and fixtures in your home's water system and water service lines. When water stands in pipes, fixtures and water systems containing lead for several hours it dissolves into your drinking water. This is true especially if you have acidic water (low pH).This means that the first water drawn from the faucet in the morning can contain high levels of lead. Since lead is colorless and tasteless when dissolved, you must test to detect lead in your water.

I would like to test the water at my parents house, but I know that they would not submit on their own.
You could have thr results mailed back to you.. the test location is not required.
When you fill out the information card place your info: your name, address and email address. The results will go back to you.
How many facets can you use it on?
One. This is a single use test kit. Preferred to use on faucet furtherest from meter if that may be determined.
This is a single kit for 1 faucet.
All you need to use is one faucet because the water is coming from the same source. Place a one quart or one-liter container (preferably plastic) under the faucet, and turn on the cold water to a show trickle. When the container is full, stir the water briefly with a plastic (not metal) spoon. Pour water from the container into the plastic test tube. Seal cap tightly, to prevent water leakage. Completely fill out the information form and send the sample to our Lab with a $40.00 payment.

Hmmmm, I was wondering the time to get results back myself. However, from the look of these other questions Pro-Lab does not support their products with answers, to questions. Bummer! :(
I have seen some test results from different labs, and you could not tell what the good range was aganst the bad danger range. I would like to know if you are able to see ranges and where my water fits in the streem of things. How many pages is the report? I know alot to answer.

I'd like to know more about the location and accreditation of the lab that you're using to perform the test. Is it certified to test residential drinking water for lead by the state of Wisconsin?
Pro-Lab is not a certified Drinking Water Laboratory, but they don't actually perform water tests themselves. The IAC2 certification seal on the package is in reference to indoor air quality. Pro-Lab outsources water testing to Florida-Spectrum Environmental Services, Inc. (http://www.speclab.com/), which is certified by the Florida Department of Health, and operates four labs in that state.
