Questions & Answers

Can this scaffold unit be added to, to make a 3-tall unit safely? I need a rolling scaffold that gets me 15' above ground level.

Hoping to buy 3 of these, and connect them vertically to get me 15' above the ground. Do they interlock vertically, and would a 3-high unit be safe to stand on at the top level? Thank you for your reply. Rand Hall

It looks like the only way to get to the platform is to climb up the outside. Is that safe?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Even though I like and think the Scaffold is great,... Even though I like and think the Scaffold is great, I found that this scaffold is not as stable as I predicted and found that it shakes at the top level, also, I found that it was hard to move the floor of each level to a different level. Overall, it makes it easier to be on scaffold then on a ladder, because I found that I am unstable on a ladder and fallen several times, but fortunately I did not break anything yet. Another thing about the scaffold is that I found that I have difficulties in climbing up and into the floor levels especially the bottom level. Only the top level has a gate but if you have to lower the floor I find it difficult to get into that floor level because the gate gets blocked behind the ladder and I have to crawl through the ladder to get in that level floor. I found that I have to still use a ladder in order to get in. Any suggestions would be helpful please! Thank you! wolfmantoo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wish I'd had this years ago It feels like nearly the ideal work platform. Very solid construction. While it is easy to assemble I do not find it as easy to adjust the height, especially when I try to do it by myself. I wish they had designed it so the slide pins that hold the side pieces in place could be pulled out and locked open while doing the adjusting. If two people are doing it there is no problem, however. The plywood on mine warped in the corner without ever having gotten wet. I'm used to that with this Asian plywood (somewhat unstable), and as others have said the plywood could use just a bit more heft. If you are not more than 200-225 lbs you probably could bring up a pail of mud, but set it closer to the edge and not right in the middle. It makes for a very good workout machine as well, without even having to go to the gym. I leave the wheels unlocked and as I move along I just gyrate my body back and forth and move the scaffolding across the floor. My stomach muscles feel much better at the end of the day.

Okay I'll admit I was a little worried after reading some reviews about how shaky this scaffold was and the fact I was going to primarily use it outside for the first couple of uses on pretty uneven ground. Oh crap what was I getting myself into?? Worries were completely unfounded! Well first I bought the Metaltech leveling Jacks to go with it. Definitely not using wheels outside! Let me tell you the best way to do this...Set your first 6' section up. Take a level and level the ends first (short end). Then level out the long ways. Then setup your outriggers. This is of course assuming you are using leveling jacks which I highly recommend. Then build the rest of your scaffolding up. If you are level I dont find this scaffold that shaky. And if you are level and have outriggers setup - you aren't going anywhere. I also used this on stairs with no issues. I did brace the scaffolding just in case on some sections so it wouldnt slide. Very easy to setup with one person. One other tip - Tie your safety gate closed temporarily to take it up and down easily. Just reach up and hook it to the upper post. Then climb up and pull it up and attach it.

Renting scaffolding was too expensive as well as hiring someone to do the job. I bought this scaffold to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised. I am not a fan of heights, frankly at my age six feet is too high, but once I was up there at the max height, I was surprised at how well it handled with me on it as well as the paint, sanders, etc. It is a little shaky, but with the outriggers, no problem. It will not fall over when you climb that side ladder and the secure doors make you feel safe. I recommend this for those who have a two story house. It was easy to assemble, watch the video and it tells all. Easy to take apart and store. and can be left outdoors even though I don't recommend it. There are some parts that will rust. I would buy this again. For those of you who only need one level, this unit breaks apart easily to make a lower level as well. Use a rope and a bucket to pull your things up the side. Don't try to carry and climb. Kinda tough. Great product.

It came in boxes and on a pallet that fit perfectly in the bed of my six foot pickup and shut the gate. All together it is very heavy for one person, I took my time and set it up by myself, it took me two hours, but that's just me. I used a ladder to get up to the second landing, and I had to get used to being limber and flexible to get my legs and body up and under the safety rails. The safety rails are as a deterent and I tried not to lean on them for total support, but I am glad they were there. I used it in the house on wood floors and it rolled around perfectly, it felt very safe to work on, because of the extenders it didn't jiggle and wiggle as much as I thought it would, even though it had a little play, the extenders are great and made the whole scaffold feel very secure. Having this particular scaffold set up in my living room for over a week was well worth the project, I did not have to rush the job because I owned the scaffolding , there was no other way to work on removing the skylights off my ceiling, the work area was 16 feet up. Now that the job is done I had to take down the scaffolding which took me about one hour being very careful not to damage the floor or furniture, I packed it away into the boxes in which it came of, there was no way it would fit back into the boxes, lol , I just do not see how it came out of those boxes. I am done with the beautiful scaffold and no longer need it so I put it for sale on Craigslist and it's sold in less than one week for what I paid for it. If I ever need to work on my high ceiling again I will buy this same scaffolding from Home Depot, thank you very much

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy and Safe! This is a very heavy, thus safe, product. I had trouble assembling it especially when I got to the safety railing at 11'7" off the ground. I could use the excuse that I am 72, but in actuality each and every piece is heavy. I think you could assemble it on the ground and then try to push it up. That would have required a lot more open space than I had and a lot more manpower than was available. It seemed wobbly to me at the top.. That being said, it did a good job installing gutters on the new second story I built. When I disassembled it, I built a cover and storage rack on the side of our garage where a person could back in with a truck or trailer to load all the pieces which total close to 500 pounds. It is probably "more" than most homeowners need, but I have an old place and kids living close by so we expect to get our money's worth out of the product. The 6' section was much more stable standing by itself and was a cinch to put together. I priced the scaffolding at several places. Many offer lower prices than this one, but their shipping costs were astronomical - one $230. This was certainly the best by.

Wrote an earlier 5 star review after putting together the lower level and safety cage (but not yet attaching the cage.) The box with the upper level was still on the floor of my carport today since it was too heavy for me to pick up and move. Finally figured out how to store it. Added the side rails and standing board to the bottom layer as a 2nd shelf. Then I only had to store the ends and wheels. Plan to also use this (removing the standing board at the higher level but leaving rails in place) to trim my hedges.
