Questions & Answers

Can this scaffold unit be added to, to make a 3-tall unit safely? I need a rolling scaffold that gets me 15' above ground level.

Hoping to buy 3 of these, and connect them vertically to get me 15' above the ground. Do they interlock vertically, and would a 3-high unit be safe to stand on at the top level? Thank you for your reply. Rand Hall

It looks like the only way to get to the platform is to climb up the outside. Is that safe?

Does this collapse for easy storage?

For example, does the shelf comes off so you could easy store this in the garage?

You can take it apart. Not very hard to put together.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stability Good Product. Suggest limiting to one additional extension level and only with the 4 stabilizers and guard rails as I believe that would be within OSHA guidance recommendations.Wheels are only for use on hard, smooth, level, stable surfaces. On surfaces that are soft or rough you should consider removal of the wheels and placing the scaffold feet on thick plywood 12x12 squares with each foot of the scaffold and stabilizers secured in 2 directions to the plywood squares to avoid possible slippage. It would not be recommended to have the feet rest directly on concrete block or tiles as these can suddenly fracture. Note: Hollow concrete or cinder blocks are only designed to take a load with the thru holes in the vertical direction.Suggest getting a thicker (3/4 inch) plywood deck if two persons or heavy materials will be on the deck. Note: With the purchase of the sheet of thicker plywood HD will gladly cut it to size.If used for exterior applications where subject to rain and moisture it would be suggested to use 3/4 exterior grade plywood for the deck and footing pads.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wish I'd had this years ago It feels like nearly the ideal work platform. Very solid construction. While it is easy to assemble I do not find it as easy to adjust the height, especially when I try to do it by myself. I wish they had designed it so the slide pins that hold the side pieces in place could be pulled out and locked open while doing the adjusting. If two people are doing it there is no problem, however. The plywood on mine warped in the corner without ever having gotten wet. I'm used to that with this Asian plywood (somewhat unstable), and as others have said the plywood could use just a bit more heft. If you are not more than 200-225 lbs you probably could bring up a pail of mud, but set it closer to the edge and not right in the middle. It makes for a very good workout machine as well, without even having to go to the gym. I leave the wheels unlocked and as I move along I just gyrate my body back and forth and move the scaffolding across the floor. My stomach muscles feel much better at the end of the day.

Renting scaffolding was too expensive as well as hiring someone to do the job. I bought this scaffold to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised. I am not a fan of heights, frankly at my age six feet is too high, but once I was up there at the max height, I was surprised at how well it handled with me on it as well as the paint, sanders, etc. It is a little shaky, but with the outriggers, no problem. It will not fall over when you climb that side ladder and the secure doors make you feel safe. I recommend this for those who have a two story house. It was easy to assemble, watch the video and it tells all. Easy to take apart and store. and can be left outdoors even though I don't recommend it. There are some parts that will rust. I would buy this again. For those of you who only need one level, this unit breaks apart easily to make a lower level as well. Use a rope and a bucket to pull your things up the side. Don't try to carry and climb. Kinda tough. Great product.

I don't like heights but needed to get some high places in a high garage and around home. I read some reviews saying it wobbled but have seen scaffolds in use and they do a little because joints are not bolted in fixed positions - they are pinned together. Considering this, the unit has been steady enough and I have felt somewhat comfortable especially when locking the wheels tight. I can now reach places I would not even consider on a tall ladder. It does take some space but sets up nicely after practicing a few times. It can be dismantled for storage but I just use it as spare shelving until needed. Clean unit, nice in/around garage.

Very good instructions, although my husband chose to ignore them, which means that the product was easy to assemble. In fact, now that we've disassembled and reassembled the scaffolding several time, my husband can break down the entire unit (two level plus Guard Rail) in 10-15 minutes. The wheels can be locked, and the entire unit feel very safe. Or the wheels can be unlocked, and we can easily roll the unit across our yard. We purchased it several weeks ago to enable us to scrape/sand/paint our soffits, and now we wish we'd purchased it decades ago.

Needs to have lower platform in place to avoid sway ... it really stiffens up with both decks in place. Very secure and stable with outriggers and all 8 wheels locked in place. Note that at less than full height you have to enter deck through the end frame. Almost impossible at 69 years and 300 pounds. I used a ladder along the side and entered the deck thru the wider and longer space between the guard rails. Great quality. Rolls easy. Be careful placing deck platform. I did it by myself using step ladder. Dropped one learning how it fit. A helper would be nice. At less than full height it is possible to swing one long edge guard rail by only placing one post in its intended socket. Place other end post along side socket. It will still latch at the "un-socketed" corner. This will open a triangle shaped section of the deck for easier egress, without climbing over top of end frame. Then bend and place leg inside guard rails and move inboard. No hanging in space for entry. Move guard rail outboard and latch. Note that it is not as secure as proper installation but much more secure than using without guard rails. A paint can holder would be nice to hang on top guard rail. Before you mount wheels, check out the locking mechanism. It stops rolling and turning. If teeth are not aligned, it can be difficult to lock or unlock. To make easier, simply turn direction of wheel a tiny amount.

Only using it now for putting mud on a drywall ceiling. Plan to buy another to stack for outdoor work. I wanted to stack 3 for 18' total however, when the box arrived, it states on the outside only stack 2 high.... I am not sure if that is for box storage / transit or stacking the units for higher reach. If i can only go up to 12', it will not suite my needs completely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy and Safe! This is a very heavy, thus safe, product. I had trouble assembling it especially when I got to the safety railing at 11'7" off the ground. I could use the excuse that I am 72, but in actuality each and every piece is heavy. I think you could assemble it on the ground and then try to push it up. That would have required a lot more open space than I had and a lot more manpower than was available. It seemed wobbly to me at the top.. That being said, it did a good job installing gutters on the new second story I built. When I disassembled it, I built a cover and storage rack on the side of our garage where a person could back in with a truck or trailer to load all the pieces which total close to 500 pounds. It is probably "more" than most homeowners need, but I have an old place and kids living close by so we expect to get our money's worth out of the product. The 6' section was much more stable standing by itself and was a cinch to put together. I priced the scaffolding at several places. Many offer lower prices than this one, but their shipping costs were astronomical - one $230. This was certainly the best by.
