        Answer This Question

A:  Generally, Pennington's products are non-hazardous to both human and pet health when used in accord with manufacturer’s directions. We suggest that pets should not be in the area during product applications, but they are free to re-enter the treated area after fertilizers are watered in and the treated area is dry

          A lot of stones
Disappointed with the amount of stones, glass and garbage pieces in the 13 bags I bought. Next time I’ll just get basic top soil.

            No grass
I’ve always used and liked the Pennington brand for grass seed for the last 10+ years fixing grass areas from WI winters and a dog. I tried this type with the fertilizer and mulch. Nothing happened. Very disappointing after two weeks. Had to get grass seed and replant. A waste of $100 for three bags and wasted time. I have receipts but no empty bags as I through them out two weeks ago after I planted.

              Works great
Disturbed the ground with a hard tooth rake, scattered the Bermuda smart patch slightly covered with peat moss and watered daily and on day 8 bermuda started sprouting to where you can easily see it.

Grass seed can take 7 to 14 days provided that the soil temperature is warm enough to support germination. If the weather has not been consistently warm germination can take longer. Please contact customer service 1-800-285-7333 so that we may assist you further. Thank you. pennington

                Germinates quickly!
I purchased this for my lawn that is shaded for the majority of the day. Only half my yard gets direct sun for 3-4 hours and the rest does not receive any. I bought some top soil and mixed it with the existing dirt and laid the mixture down. I watered with a hose in the morning around 6am before leaving work and in the afternoon around 6pm when I got home. After 4 days, there was germination, pics are 7 days after laying the mixture.

This stuff is great...if you don't like grass.
I purchased this to grow new seed along the edge of a patio that I built. The first time I applied the mix, and then mixed in dirt and then covered with a straw net meant for covering new seed; I set an automatic timer to water it every morning and nothing grew. I tried a second application without the straw net with the same result. I ended up covering it with sod.

Great seed for bringing a dead lawn back to life
The "After" pics in this review are from 7-4-23. The Before pics are from 6-14-23. So that's the progress in 20 days, and I think its great. My lawn used to be very nice, but over the years got some grubs, weeds, and other issues leaving it to look just terrible. I didn't even do a ton to fix it, just raked it up good with a metal rake and laid out 2 bags of the penninginton dense shade mix, and watered twice a day for 10-15 minutes. I think the results are great! Pics speak for themselves

Easy to use and grass grew
I've never tried growing grass from seed. I had a part of my yard that had all of my grass die off - four dogs using it to urinate was too much. I saw this product and thought I'd give it a try. I started in early May and followed the instructions. I honestly dumped a lot on the ground - I thought it was too much, but it looked like the photo. ??? After week one I wasn't too sure it was going to work, but I waited and by week three there was so much grass. Now, during drought like weather we currently have, it's the best grass in my lawn.

Very disappointed in Smart Patch, and Pennington in general
6/30/2023 - On 6/8/2023 I purchased a 30 lbs bag of Smart Patch. Not cheap. Prepared the patches as directed on the bag. Watered at least twice daily. Now three weeks and nothing. Bag says new grass in as little as five days. on 6/28/2023 I contacted the company via this website asking about a refund...as directed on the bag. No response. Nothing. Not even an automated response saying they received my message and someone will contact me. Not buying Pennington again.

                          People are stupid
I put this down on the edge of my gravel drive that had been run over too many times. I watered 2-3 times a day. Anytime it looked slightly dry I gave it a squirt. The images prove themselves. I did patch a few spots that didn’t get as much water and they didn’t grow as well. Don’t trust reviews from lazy people who believe in miracles
