We would recommend speaking to someone at your local garden center or Agricultural Extension Office for assistance. We suggest you have your soil tested first. Your local County Extension Office can do this for you and then make recommendations upon your soil. Thank you.
Thank you for your question. Any of the cool season grasses, Perennial Rye, one of the fescues or Kentucky Bluegrass will survive winter temps if planted and established before the cold weather arrives. Annual Rye will last one season. The best time to plant any of these is about 45 days before you expect your first frost. This gives the grass time to establish a strong root system to carry it through the cold months. Temperatures 65-75 day time and not dropping below 50 at night.
We are sorry to hear that you had issues when planting the grass seed. Our seed is rigorously tested for both germination and weed control to ensure that it is only high- quality grass seed in our products. The fescue (germination as early as 5-14 days) is used as a companion grass to come up and hold the soil in place to give the Bermuda time to germinate (up to 30 days.
