I went almost 3 months without light in my laundry room. I bought some LEDs that were thinner but they were the wrong kind. T12 to T12 by 48" is pretty standard and I still messed it up. I recommend these! They're bright and they save me the hassle of removing the ballast (for now). They install in less than 2 minutes.

Very similar lighting
I was excited to learn that I could replace my florescent bulbs with led without rewiring. These fit the existing fixture, but was very similar. Attached the picture with both led and florescent for side by side for comparison.

These bulbs worked perfectly: We replaced the old fluorescent bulbs we had in the kitchen light with more current LED bulbs. The light is much brighter now, but in a better way and turns on more reliably & easily than the other type. Very happy with this purchase! Thanks!

Back around 2011, after changing F40T12 bulbs for 50 years in my home and at work, I read about the coming ban on these bulbs. Getting on ladders was becoming harder, so I simply bought a case of what I thought would be a lifetime supply of F40T12 bulbs. Well, I am still here but the bulbs are not. I got on the Home Depot website to see what was out there. For some reason, F40T12 Cool White fluorescent lamps are still sold at Home Depot. But, I found this listing for T12 LED lamps as well, at a cost of 2.49 times the cost of fluorescent lamps. Switching to LED was a no brainer because of the savings on electricity. But will it work on the fixture in the kitchen? When I had the fixture open a few years back, I noticed the ballast was made by a no-name company in China. So it became obvious Philips' compatibility guide could not capture all the stuff out there that will work. With a 90 day return policy, I just figured I'd try it and see if it would work. Well, they did, and I had the same experience as many other five-star reviewers had. Philips specifies Instant Start ballasts, but ballasts for F40T12 were always called Rapid Start, so don't let that deter you. You might have problems if you have those cheap "Shop Light" fixtures from 30 years ago that sold for 10 bucks or so, or a transformer and starter setup. In that event, stick with F40T12 fluorescent or change the ballast if you have room for it. I bought two single tubes. The inventory count you see on the website on the single item listing probably counts the loose bulbs and well as the number of bulbs in those 8 pack cases in the store. So if you find no loose lamps in the store, as a warehouseman to break open a carton for you.

I purchased two different types of Phillips LED fluorescent bulbs for our basement; 32 Watt T8 (6500k) and 40 Watt T12 (4000k). I ended up going with the 4000k option - it fit our old fixture perfectly and lights up the entire basement. Super easy to install and I like that they are energy efficient. I deducted a few stars because in a pack of ten, at least 3 arrived broken. Barely any packaging besides the cardboard wrap, but I guess these are more commonly purchased in store. Just always check for broken bulbs, otherwise they work great!

I've used a four-foot fluorescent fixture in my computer room well, forever. Long enough to burn though half a dozen fluorescent bulbs, anyway. Today I needed a new bulb and ran across the Philips InstantFit T12 4000K replacement. I've replaced all my other fixtures with LED's and been pleased, so decided to give this a stab. I wasn't sure this would work because my light fixture uses an old-fashioned ballast, but I installed it and it worked perfectly! It is just as bright as a fluorescent and the same color, but uses less than half the electricity and barely gets warm. If you are still limping along with fluorescent tubes, try this retrofit.

If you are looking for a LED replacement for an old T12 4 foot fluorescent bulb, this product is the right choice. This one is the daylight model (6500K) which is perfect for the lights in my garage – they also come in other color temperatures. It is a direct replacement for the old 40 watt bulbs and is simply a “plug and play” install. I tried them in a couple of different fixtures around the house (some older and some fairly new) and had no issues with any. An energy efficient replacement.

LED lights are the energy efficient future of all lighting. These LED replacements for florescent tubes are ideal in that they are bright, cooler in operation and are a direct replacement without modifying the fixture they are installed in. My preference is for 5000K daylight color temperature bulbs but these do just fine in kitchens, laundry rooms and shop areas. One important note, check the compatibility chart on Phillips website to insure that these will work with the ballast in your fixture. I have included a partial list for your convenience.
