Q:Can someone please recommend a compatible ballast for dimming these lights please? I?d like to be able to dim these.

      Answer This Question

A:  IZT-2S54D. By the way, these lamps suck. They flicker and go on and off when they want to? I should have just stayed with my original fluorescents instead of spending $80.

A:  This lamp is dimmable - but would need to be used in a fixture with a compatible ballast allows for dimming with a proper dimmer control.

          Does not fit in housing.
Was very excited to replace old fluorescent tubes with LED ones, what a disappointment, they are wider on both ends and do not fit in the fixture plastic housing.....unusable, so will have to keep buying old style fluorescent instead.

These replacement LED tubes provide more light than the older fluorescent bulbs we replaced. Since this was in a work bay, no additional shatter guards were needed like the older glass tubes had to have

I originally obtained these 4 ft. T5 LED replacement tubes in error. I thought they were T8 tubes. They do not fit in existing fixtures that take T8 tubes. So I thought I would still give them a try and went shopping for a T5 fixture. These particular fixtures were not sold in stores at that time. I tried online shopping and did find some T5 compatible models, most in the “plant growing” fixture section. One thing they all had in common was they were very expensive compared to standard 4 ft tube fixtures. I did not see any significant advantage of these T5 tubes over T8 lighting and LED tube lights. In fact the comparison of costs of the fixtures and the tubes convinced me to stick with standard T8 and LED tube lights. So if you do not already have a T5 fixture that takes T5 replacement tubes, don’t go there. If you do have a T5 LED fixture that takes replacement tubes, then these may work well for you with 3500 lumens and 24wLED. They are advertised to be compatible with most ballast but not all. They are also advertised as dimmable.

First of all these bulbs are only 46" long and not 48" long (see photos) so you cannot just swap out bulbs on most normal fixtures, you need a T5 bulb specific fixture. These fixtures are typically used in plant growing situations or high bay garage or warehouse application not found in most typical house holds. Once I got the correct fixture, the bulbs do work great, start up even in cold (below freezing) and no flickering. They are not dim able but you can just swap out the T5 florescent bulbs with these LED's with no additional fuss or muss. OEM states that bulbs use approx 50% less energy to operate and will last 30+ years under normal operation time (3 hrs. per day). Packaging was good and product arrived with no damage. Great product, recommended.

These LED bulbs are bright, 3500 lumens and offer a cool white light, 4000 Kelvin. We find that one bulb in a ceiling fixture is almost enough to light an 18-foot by 18- foot room enough to read at night. They are T8 and fit into a 48” fluorescent fixture, and work with ballast, either electronic or magnetic according to the package. They come on instantly, with no flicker and no hum. They use just 24 watts of electricity, and are equal to a 54-watt fluorescent bulb. The package says they will last 30+ years if used three hours a day, a good feature if you need a ladder as I did to install them. They are not dimmable. They are for indoor use. These are bright, long-lasting and economical LED bulbs.

These are T5 style bulbs, 5/8” diameter x 46” long, made to upgrade the most modern fluorescent style fixtures to the more efficient LED bulbs (the older T8's are 1” diameter x 48”, the old-style T12's are 1 1/2” x 48”). Pretty sweet how they work, just pop them into your current fluorescent fixture, no need to reconfigure your ballast wiring, & away you go (you can check the included ballast compatibility chart on the website before ordering, if you want to be sure these will work for you...it's a LONG list, tho'). These are a super bright 3500 lumens, with a 4000k light color, which is in the range of my favorite light color...very bright, with just a touch of warmth...perfect, great for active areas. These are a nice innovation to make changing-over to LED's very easy. Check on bulk pricing if you can, & save some dough.

Better output than standard 4' 28w T5 flourescent @ 3600lm but not quite HO output/quality @ 5000lm per. Better in cold weather than florescent as used as replacements in wood/metal shop. No problem with flicker as prior reviewer stated or tube warm-up issues(cold weather), used in my Lithonia 28wX 2 bulb fixtures. Happy with Daylight color of these, (can see now;), Replacement fluorescent tubes locally are $10 per tube which made these "a buy" at $12 ea.. No rewiring of fixture to accomidate and am impressed with these and that's commimg from an Electrician, after a month of use.
