Questions & Answers

Q:Does this bulb have motion activation
by|Jan 6, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  This bulb is equipped with the SpaceSense feature. With SpaceSense, your lights automatically turn on when you enter a room and turn off when you leave. SpaceSense uses the Wi-Fi signals already present in your home, so it's easy to set up with no additional hardware or wiring required. In order to use SpaceSense you would need at least two bulbs in the same room installed at least two meters apart. Once the bulbs are installed just use the WiZ app to configure

A:  WiZ operates on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, on either B or G channels. 5GHz Wi-Fi is not supported. However, once your lights are paired, you can control them from anywhere through the Cloud. No particular need to stay connected on the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

Purchased these for hallway and kitchen. They constantly say "...light is unavailable." Redid all of them with support help and once again, I have some that are unavailable. Might give these up and try a different brand.

Easy to link to my Google app. Do exactly what I want them to do thru the app. Color changing and the themes are more than I expected. So far pretty pleased with my purchase
              Well worth the money
I bought 4 of these for $14 a piece. These bulbs are exactly what I wanted for my basement gaming area. Lots of choices for colors. They can be used as regular lights but better. U can pinpoint the color of the natural light with how many Kelvins u want. Plus u can adjust the brightness and rate of color change. Most people will be happy with these!

I boight 12 of these last Christmas, and bought another six for the family room re-do in the basement. I patiently added one at a time so I could easily label each bulb depending on its location. Added the bulbs to rooms, and now i can easily create the moods for the seasons. I had no problems of any kind setting any of these up

I can't say enough great things about the Phillips BR30 LED 65-Watt dimmable smart bulb. First of all, it's a Phillips product, so you know it has quality to it. It is a bit of a trial and error to get the bulb to link to your WIFI and smart phone through the Wiz Connected app, but that was probably user error, just keep trying and if necessary, look up a video on how to link it like I did. Once I got it going, it was amazing. I can control the bulb (intensity, color, and on/off) from anywhere with my phone. You can also allow other family members to have control too. You can choose from a myriad of pre programed settings, or make up your own. There is also the ability to choose pretty much any color you can think of on the spectrum. The is a great bulb for pot lights in media rooms, so you can have lower level lighting when watching a movie. I was also excited to see what other devices can be controlled like this through the Wiz Connected app.

It is important to note that this smart tunable (warm white to cool white) BR30 lamp (120 degree distribution, see photo) is not part of the Philips Hue product line although it is a Philips product. It operates on the Wiz lighting app (not the Philips Hue app) that was easy to install and link in (4) simple steps. Also note that this lamp would count as a device on your home network if you have limitations on the quantity of devices. There is an advantage for those who want to skip installing a Hub and direct into a downlight fixture or auxiliary desk clamp light as I show in the attached photos. The Wiz app has features that most smart home owners need without the bulk or complexities of other apps. Build quality is solid, but typical and comparable to other BR30 type smart and non-smart lamps. I would prefer this lamp to be located in an area with purpose such as a desk lamp for work to change the mood of the local area or a dinner table lamp instead of a general ceiling downlight such as in a kitchen or living room. In general lighting for common areas I usually recommend 3000k to my colleagues and clients. Another benefit for those who do not know what color temperature they prefer can purchase this as a test lamp to mock up different color temps in different rooms. At the price point this is offered at it would be a premium to purchase this for every fixture in the house. This lamp is rated for 7.2 Watts at 650 Lumen output with an overall efficacy of 90.27 lumens per watt that meets/exceeds current industry standards for this metric. Not that the lumen output at 2200k color temperature/very warm white is different from 6000k/cool white. I would assume 650 lumen is an average or at 5000 - 6000k. Overall as a lighting fan and electrical engineer in the construction field I really enjoy this product and would recommend it to anyone to try it out. Buy (1) to verify that you actually like it then roll it out to the rest of your project. Philips uses the best LED diodes in the business so you can trust the quality. You have to go through additional steps to utilize the RGB colors but it is pretty intuitive. Note that this will not work with a dimmer and will require the full 120V voltage to the lamp. Dimming and all other controls is done through the Wiz app. To maintain color memory to the lamp, constant power to the lamp is required which makes sense but is a negative for those who are trying to save electricity. See attached photos for reference, it is difficult to capture color temperatures with a phone camera but it will give you a good idea of the lamps capabilities.
