Answer This Question
A:Â It comes in a 120w, but the bulb is quite a bit larger and may not fit in your fixture.

A:Â I have always purchased either a 60 watt or a 75 watt plant light bulb. And always a Philips. Philips has the quality I need. And the area my plants are in is about 6' H x 6' W x 7.5' W cellarium -- small area. I did a brief Internet search and found Philips does have a 120 watt bulb. In the area I described I have to be careful not to burn my plants with the 75 watt bulb. May I suggest you check the Philips site for ideas on how to provide grow lighting for your needs? It is very informative. In the past I have used a fluorescent blub that worked well. I see now LED blubs are made. Check our your needs then check with Home Depot to see if they will order your selection.

Q:Are these bulbs safe to use for a ceiling light fixture that says "60 watt max"?

Answer This Question
A: I can’t say if using a higher watt bulb in A lower watt fixture is ok. I use higher watt bulbs in higher watt fixture and never had any problem
by|May 1, 2019
A:Â Check the maximum allowable wattage for the fixture. There should be a label near the socket describing what the maximum allowable wattage will be. Never exceed the maximum allowable wattage for the fixture because it may be a fire hazard.

A:Â No. The bulb is 75 watt. It is best to follow the manufacturers' instructions.
by|May 8, 2019
A:Â Since the bulb is rated at 75 watts, I'd suggest that it not be used in the ceiling fixture.
by|Aug 13, 2019
A: No. With that said, you may do it and get away without any issues. However, the issues that can happen isn’t worth it.

Love this light! My plants have been perking up over the early winter months with this light. Because this light does emit heat, I have it set on a timer to go in 1 hour intervals in the evenings using an Defiant Outlet Timer. I read the reviews and saw that this light can really cook or dry out the plants. I have notice that my plants don't get too warm having the light turn on/off as needed. I also have my light about 3-4 feet from my plants. I was afraid that the light would emit noticeably blue light, but actually I feel its like a soft bright white. It's actually quite soothing.

After leaves began dropping (4-5 per day) from a new Schefflera arboricola plant placed in my office, the plant maintenance guy told me it was no getting enough light. I installed an Argo BR30 plant lamp in a clamp on fixture and within one day the leaves stopped dropping. after I week I had several new stalks of leaves growing from the center top, and three weeks later they are bright, shiny and fully grown with more coming - what a difference! I am running the lamp about 8 hours per day, but will reduce the time because I think the plant is growing too fast!

Our orchids love this bulb
I just picked this bulb at random, looking for something to help our tabletop orchids through the winter. I put in in our dining room fixture about 12 inches above the tallest one. They really thrived under it. We use it year round now. I created a larger reflective cover for it, raised it a few inches, and moved some other house plants underneath. It seems to have the right spectrum for our purposes. I had an issue with the first bulb burning out after about 15 minutes. We've had two since then which have lasted at least a year each. (I've had that same experience with other light bulbs too. Sometimes you just pick a lemon. :) ). I would definitely recommend trying this bulb for a dining table mini-garden, or similar arrangement, etc.

I really like this Phillips plant light and I'm getting good results.
This is the first time I've tried a grow light for my seedlings. It's another rainy March in the Northwest and I wanted to give my seedlings some extra warmth and light. This lamp casts a nice broad light on my seed tray, and is very easy to position with an aluminum clamp light socket.

Prior to my purchase of these Philips Grow Lights, I had tried a series of other brands that all burned out well before their promoted lifespan. I installed these latest floods about two months ago and, running 24/7, they’re still going strong. Of course only time well determine their ultimate service life, but for now, I’m happy to give them five stars.
