The application rate is based off your results from testing the water! I’d purchase some of their test strips so you know what your dealing with. Download the app and you simply match the colors from the test strip and it will tell you what chemical or chemicals are off balance and directions to treat it. I’m not sure of its exact impact on chlorine and alkalinity? But from what I’ve researched, until you have your water balanced as in the correct ph parameters, it will effect all the other chemicals! They have a step program, first step is testing water, and second is balancing it through adjusting the ph to I think the 6-7 range, and from there you chlorinate and everything else! You have to have step 2 correct in order to adjust step 3 and so on!
