Q:How this product compared with muriatic acid?

Answer This Question

A:  Hi cspark, We are the manufacturer of Pool Time products. Twenty ounces of our pH Down is equivalent to one pint of muriatic acid. Our pH Down is a granular product, therefore it is considered more safe as spills are more easily cleaned up before any potential damage can occur. If you have any other questions, please give our Technical Solutions Team a call at 1-800-252-POOL (7665). Thank you.

A:  5 lb=80oz is equivalent to 4 pint of muriatic acid from the manufacturer. 2 Gallons of 31.5% muriatic acid = 16 pint is costing less than 5lbs. pH down at the time of writing. Of course the advantage of this powder product is the safety.

A:  Hi CReePeR, We are the manufacturer of Pool Time products. Our pH Down product includes a dosage chart on the back of the label. If your pH is between 7.7 and 7.8, we recommend the addition of 6 ounces pH Down (per 10,000 gallons of pool water), if pH is between 7.9 and 8.0, we recommend the addition of 12 ounces pH Down (per 10,000 gallons), if pH is between 8.1 and 8.4, we recommend the addition of 20 ounces pH Down (per 10,000 gallons) and if pH is above 8.4, we recommend the addition of 24 ounces pH Down per 10,000 gallons. For your 25,500 pool, these values are 15 ounces (pH 7.7 - 7.8), 31 ounces (pH 7.9 - 8.0), 51 ounces (pH 8.1 - 8.4) and 61 ounces (pH higher than 8.4). One cup of this product equals about 8 ounces. If you have any other pool care questions or concerns, please give us a call at 1-800-252-POOL (7665). Thank you.

A:  It could but you'd want to get a test kit to know how much. You can use the Trouble Free Pools app in your browser to know exactly how much to add after you test the water.

A:  Hi Grower, We are the manufacturer of Pool Time products. We can only recommend the use of our products in a pool, therefore, we can not recommend their use in your hydroponic system. If you have any other questions or would like to discuss further, please call us at 1-800-252-7665. Thank you.

A:  No I’m sorry not this particular product. Hot tubs or spas have their own line of products.

                by|Jun 10, 2021

A:  That's what I've been using it for. Safe for it but I've been having a little difficulty getting the ph to stay down even though my alkalinity is fine. The bag will go a long ways in a hot tubs smaller amount of water Don't what else to tell you. Good luck

The pH of our pool has consistently been too high, and repeated applications of this product have only nudged that number slightly lower; still in the 'high' range. On the plus side, one of our commodes has had some stubborn stains in the bottom, and a few spoonfuls removed them in a couple of hours.

Response from Pool Time SupportOct 19, 2022
Hi Dawg99, We are the manufacturer of Pool Time products. Based on what you've said, it sounds like the water's Total Alkalinity may be high. We recommend a pool's Total Alkalinity be balanced between 125 and 150 parts per million. If the Alkalinity value is high, it is difficult to lower the pH. We can only recommend the use of our pH Down in swimming pools. We do not recommend its use in toilets. If you would like to discuss either topic in more detail, please call our Technical Solutions Team at 1-800-252-POOL (7665). Thank you. PoolTime
