Do i still need to use chlorine with this MaxBlue 6-1?

Asked by Jr May 9, 2021

Answers

Hi Jr., We are the manufacturer of Pool Time products. We do recommend using chlorine tablets, such as our MAXBlue Chlorinating Tablets along with the MAXBlue Shock. The tablets dissolve slowly to provide continuous application of sanitizer, i.e. chlorine, to your system. Our 3" MAXBlue Tablets are typically dosed at 1 to 2 tablets per 10,000 gallons to maintain a chlorine level of 1 to 4 parts per million. Our MAXBlue Shock provides oxidation or break up of contaminants that accrue through normal use and from the environment. Our MAXBlue Shock is dosed at 1 pound per 12,000 gallons of pool water. If you have any other questions or concerns, please give our Technical Solutions Team a call at 1-800-252-POOL (7665). Thank you.

Can this be used to decontaminate a potable water tank?

Answer

Hi Shane, We are the manufacturer of Pool Time products. We cannot recommend that our Shock MAXBlue be used to treat potable water. Our Pool Time MAXBlue Shock is EPA registered to oxidize contaminants in swimming pools, and we can only recommend its use strictly in accordance with the label directions. We recommend the use of a product that is labeled specifically for use with drinking water. If you have any other questions, please call our Technical Solutions Team at 1-800-252-POOL (7665). Thank you.

Does this add cya to pool?

Hi Hec, We are the manufacturer of PoolTime products. The active ingredient in this product is sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione, which is a stabilized form of chlorine. Stabilized forms of chlorine do add stabilizer/cya to the pool. If you have any other questions, please call us at 1-800-252-7665.

How much do I use in my 2,500 gallon swim spa? How long do I need to run pumps.?

Asked by Cuppy August 4, 2020

Answers

Hi Cuppy, We are the manufacturer of Pool Time products. Our Shock MAXBlue should be used at 1 pound (16 ounces) per 12,000, so for your size pool, you would need to use about 3 ounces. 1/4 cup is 2 ounces and 2 tablespoons equal an ounce, so your dosage would be 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons. If you have any other questions or concerns, please give us a call at 1-800-252-7665.

It says step 4. What are steps 1 to 3?

Asked by Lei August 2, 2020

Answers

What you are asking about is the Home Depot's Pool Time Care System. The numbers reflect the order of which is a good idea to start up and maintain your pool. Step 1 is TEST /the 6-Way Test Strips. Step 2 is BALANCE/ ph Up or Down, Step 3 is SANITIZE/ Chlorine, Step 4 is SHOCK, Step 5 is ALGECIDE. You may or may not need all of the items in the steps but the number system is a clever way to market the basics of pool care. I hope this helps.

Turned my pool water dark green
I bought this here as my pool store was closed. Put it in and ran the filter overnight. The next morning, my pool that had a slight amount of algae before now was unrecognizable with Dark green algae. Went to my regular pool store and was told this had happened before with this product.

Response from Pool Time SupportSep 21, 2020
Hi Yuck, We are the manufacturer of Pool Time products. We are sorry to hear about your recent experience with our MAXBlue Shock. Algae typically does not have the ability to grow overnight from slight amounts to large amounts. However, if metals were present in the water, the reaction where metals come out of solution can occur very rapidly and can discolor pool water overnight. If you would like to discuss further, or have other pool care questions or concerns, please give us a call at 1-800-252-POOL (7665). Thank you. PoolTime

EXCELLENT product! Works like a miracle! Perfectly sized 1 lb. bags, great product, works perfectly to clear cloudy water, get rid of pool nasties, algae and other bacteria and is easy to dispense (ie. no cup scoop to create airborne asperation hazards - big plus there!). Dissolves incredibly fast and produces results in just a few hours. Excellent product! Great value to have 10 bags in one box! Stock up!

This is a great product. I have a 26,000 gal salt pool with a chlorinator. I use this product because every once in a while my pool needs a little boost. Just one bag while bring up the CL level. If I really want to shock the pool after 50 kids have been it :) I will put in two bags. It keeps the pool very clear and I never have a problem with algae.

This year the tree pollen was awful, then all the storms that brought in so much dust in the air, the water was getting cloudy. So I used 4 bags (30,000 gal pool) and within a day it was crystal clear again. Checked the chemical balance and was perfect.
