Product Overview

Power Bright series of step up/down voltage transformers offers you a safe, reliable, affordable and convenient solution to converting voltages from 110-120-Volt up to 220-240-Volt or from 220-240-Volt down to 110-120-Volt for both home use and industrial applications. The VC2000W is rated at 2,000-Watts maximum. It features a heavy-duty cord with a standard US 3-prong plug plus a free American to German outlet plug adapter. There are a total of two outputs on the front panel. Two are grounded outputs, one designated for 120-Volt with a US standard outlet and 220-Volt only universal outlet. For safety, it's recommended by the manufacturer that the voltage transformer's maximum power should be equal or greater than the power rating of your appliance multiplied by 1.5. For example, if you have an appliance rated at 100-Watts, you will need to pick a transformer with a maximum power of 150-Watts or greater.

Can I use this for a coffee maker from UK 220-240 volts and 1300 w here in US ?

It definitely should, as the maximum rated current (in amps in the USA,) or maximum rated wattage (elsewhere in the world) are maximums, and they do account for surges when the power is turned on. Not sure why tech support would reply that it would surge "above" that rated 1300 watts. That's what the rating is precisely for. (Determining maximum surge current or wattage upon power up.)

will this work to run a 220 volt air compressor that's single phase and draws 14.4 amps?

No. Inrush being a whole other conversation, you would need a minimum of a 3200W converter. Volts x Amps = Watts. 220 x 14.4 = 3168w. Some manufacturers have different recommendations, but most of my reading suggests a 20-30% safety factor as well **3800-4100w**. So, you need to check with your air compressor manufacturer to see if they have a figure for inrush current. Do the math (with safety factor) and purchase the corresponding transformer. Hope that helps.

US 220 does not require coinversion to 120. You can wire it up from one hot leg to neutral. 220 uses both hot legs

How many amps does it draw, maximum? It's listed on all devices sold in the USA. You just said you know the voltage it requires. Do you know how to multiply? Or do you not know whether 6000 or 2000 is bigger?

This question is impossible to answer without knowing the wattages of your appliances, but it is large enough to handle any appliance that can be used with a 15 Amp standard US wall outlet.

If you see this is a 2000 watt transformer, I would assume you could get something smaller for your 100 watt device. What was the question? Whether you can take 100 watts out of 2000 and still not be over the load limit? There's nothing complicated, unless you find subtraction hard.

Hi, will this work for clothes dryer? We only have 110 v outlet

If the dryer specifies how many amps at how many volts it uses at most, and this unit specifies how many watts total it can handle, you can simply convert volts x amps = watts. I knew that by the age of 12. How is this not common knowledge? Did you just get electricity in your town?

Easy to use and has been highly effective so far. It’s pretty heavy, but most transformers this size are. The only downside was that it really smelled of gas (no idea why) when I first started using it. I had to open all the windows in the room where it is because the smell was so strong. That seems to have dissipated in the weeks since but it does still smell a little. I hope that will go away entirely with time.
