I just learned this today.....most chainsaws will have the info you need on the bar.....I looked on my Ryobi electric and sure enough....it said 3/8 LP (which means low profile whatever that signifies) according to the instructions with this, I would have used the smallest stone, the 5/32 stone. ....

You can buy the different sizes of sharpening stones to sharpen any size chain, dremel stones will fit this sharpener.
The "instruction" manual with poorly done technical illustrations were included with mine.....it did not help.

New sharpening stones were available at Home Depot where I bought the sharpener. They carried all three sizes, but I didn't buy any as I was unsure of what size I needed.
