This is not tape at all. It slides into a channel at the bottom of the door. If you’re asking what type of type you can use for your aluminum strip, I’ve used a double sided tape called VHB tape in wet locations, but that was years ago, so I don’t know if it exists any more.

Well,myself i have not used it for the side of the door but for the bottom of the door it worked fine. I guess if it fits on the side and water don't get through, I would say yes you can use it there. It is made good and strong,and very flexible.Will mold to any angle you want. I would recommend this product to my friends and family.
