I do not and have never liked wood screws, for some reason, too me, they seem to fat, I do not like the standard rounded heads or even the flat head version.
So I use sheet rock screws for wood.

I used this product to attach black plastic lattice to wooden framing, mostly because they were very sharp, so as to penetrate the plastic without splitting it and because the black color would not contrast with the lattice color.
