Great little saw! This won't be replacing my Stihl MS290 or Echo CS-670 that I use for my firewood business. But this saw is great for limbing and last a lot longer on a 6ah battery than i thought it would!

It is a cordless chainsaw, which eliminates the hassles of storing gasoline. It has a slip-on chain cover, which fits snugly and stays in place. It has a brake which protects from accidental start. The kit includes everything to start cutting, except for oil. I like how the chain tension wrench is attached to the body, and it has a convenient metal ring for attaching it to the belt while climbing up or down. Overall, it is a well-designed and well-built product, like everything that I ever owned from Ridgid. The kit includes one 6.0 Ah battery, and the battery compartment accepts 8.0 Ah batteries too. I wish the pricing on the Ridgid batteries would be lower.

This chainsaw has lots of good features. I like that the Hand guard/ Chain brake not only stops the chain, but also cuts power. My old 18 volt chainsaw does not have these features. This chainsaw has a nice balance and weight. I weighed it on my scale and it weighed in at 9.3 pounds with battery. I measured the power consumption of the charger with my inline power meter and I measured 40-42 watts while charging the battery and a mere half a watt after the battery had fully charged. I like the combination wrench that stores securely in the bottom side of the chainsaw. I tried cutting some vine maples and black berry vines that ranged from half inch to one inch and it cut them smoothly without grabbing and pulling the vines toward the saw. Overall, this is a great chainsaw with lots of good features.

I'm hooked on this 12" battery chainsaw for felling small trees, cutting firewood, or pruning overgrown shrubs and cleaning up after a storm. It is so easy to maneuver without wearing yourself out.  No struggle with a pull-cord to start the tool running. Just push a button, and you’re ready to go. It has an automatic chain oiling system that reduces maintenance and keeps the saw running smoothly. The high-efficiency brushless motor requires less maintenance than brushed motors and has a longer life. Really a lot less hassle than a gas chainsaw for your medium and smaller jobs. Uses the same batteries as your other Ridgid tools. Highly recommended.

This couldn't have come at a better time, as I was just about to purchase a chain saw, when RIDGID through the Home Depot Seeds program was kind enough to offer this chainsaw to try and review, to which I was very pleased to receive. The chainsaw kit comes with the saw, 6.0 mAh battery, and charger. You will have to supply your own bar and chain oil, easily acquired through Home Depot. The saw is very light weight, and it for a right hand orientation only. The right hand is always to be the trigger hand, while the left hand is for the front handle. RIDGID make it very clear NOT to cross arms in orientation because it could cause serious injury. The chainsaw is not too light and not too heavy. The bar allows for a 10" cut. There is a large chainsaw bar oil tank on the left side of the saw. There is a safety break before the handle to protect from kickbacks or bar/chain failure, should it happen. It also serves as a manual chain break. The trigger has a safety switch which must be activated before the trigger can be depressed. This saw is capable to handle many small to medium jobs around the home. I wanted a saw because most firewood delivered to me is 24" long and they don't fit in my firebox, so I have have to cut them down. This will work perfectly for me and increase my wood stocks. The 6.0 amp battery is said to give you plenty of cut time, although having an additional battery handy makes a day of cutting easier. The bar and chain oil container holds 7.3 ounces of oil. You must make sure the bar is lubricated before sawing and that the tension is correct. There is a tool provided to help you with the job. After cutting is done, you must drain the bar oil, because it will leak out. Do not store the battery in the saw after use. Draining the oil will help prevent spills and stains. Full replacement parts are available which include the bar and chain. The saw comes with RIDGID's LIFETIME WARRANTY which requires registration within 90 days of purchase. I'm very happy to have received this saw. It was a timely blessing for the job I need done. It's well built and works with all my other RIDGID tool's batteries. I rate this saw 5*s out of 5. Received this and had to wait to get the blade and chain oil. But once I got it my neighbor and I put it to some quick use clearing a couple trees one dead and one just in the wrong place. Charged the 6AH battery and we went at it. We were impressed at the ease of use and realized that it was an extremely powerful little saw. We cleared the one in my yard then we did his. He has an old gas powered chainsaw but was just tickled on how easy it was to use and kept trying to figure out what else we could cut. Enough about my experience let’s talk about the chainsaw. Light weight and quiet, we didn’t do very much but expected the battery to show some drain but it is still fully charged. Fun to use and makes you want to find something else to cut. Make sure you buy some chainsaw oil so you can get straight to cutting.

RIDGID…. 18V Brushless 12 in. Electric Battery Chainsaw with 6.0 Ah MAX Output Battery and Charger, chain saw arrived in perfect condition and was well packaged, I charged the 6.0 Ah battery filled it with bar and chain oil and checked the blade tension then I went out in my back yard and tried it out on an old heavy duty pallet, I like that the chain oiler is automatic and the brushless motor has plenty of power, I ran it till my two pallets were turned into firewood size, the saw didn’t seem to create any excess heat and the battery was still at about 70% charged, I really like the variable speed trigger and at just over 9 Lbs. it is easy to handle without fatigue. I am happy with it; this chain saw is perfect for light duty home use. this is a Great Product.

Ridgid has a solid performer in their 12-inch 18-volt electric chainsaw. This is perfect to have on-hand for light jobs cutting up 6-10 inch diameter trunks and limbs around your property. I used this and it made quick work of a pile of limbs I had from last season since my previous saw broke. The run time is impressive with the included 6Ah battery, and not having to worry about gas/oil mix or restarting between breaks are big upsides. In-use, it feels sturdy enough that I'm not afraid of build quality being a safety issue. It has a handy slot for the hex/screwdriver combo tool, so nothing is out of reach when you need to change the chain of perform other maintenance. My only complaint is that I was not able to register this for the Lifetime Service Agreement - box model and model on the unit were not found in the form. Hopefully this gets fixed soon as this is a big draw for Ridgid tools and would be a significant detractor if this isn't supported while stated it is on the box.
