                  Nice Tool, Horrible Customer Service
We bought this impact driver in November, 2025 at a local Home Depot. I had intended on choosing another, more popular brand of impact driver, but I was influenced by Ridgid's "Lifetime Service Agreement" (LSA), which, after registering the tools and accessories with Ridgid, seems to be a great deal. It offers free repair or replacement for the life of the original purchaser. Sounds great on paper. I promptly registered all the tools and accessories that I purchased, but still have not been notified that my registration was approved. It's now nearly two months since I registered with Ridgid. No communication, No approval. Just crickets. Fortunately, I purchased everything using my Home Depot credit card, which gives me a full year to return my purchase for a refund. I check Ridgid's registration website often, to see if my submissions still say PENDING. I'm not ready to call Ridgid's LSA a scam just yet, but if I don't get confirmation from them that I'm covered, I will return the tools and purchase another brand, as I had intended originally. If it wasn't for the hassle registering the tools, and the hoops they make you jump thru, I would have given all my Ridgid purchases 4 or 5 stars. It's a nice tool, and about the only thing I wish it came with is a hard carrying case, instead of a fabric bag. Disappointed ! ...and you gotta love the attempts that Ridgid makes at damage control, when they reply to negative reviews, perhaps even to THIS review. I've got a suggestion... Rather than ineffective damage control, why not address the issues that your customers are complaining about, over and over. You might even make loyal, happy customers out of disgruntled ones, and gain some positive reviews in the process.

After 1.5 hours of use, the subcompact brushless driver literally broke in half at the chuck and fell apart. I am not exaggerating anything. Luckily I registered it for warranty, but I'm not sure I want another one or even another Ridgid product. My brushed driver smoked and got a gasket leak at the end of the chuck. We will see how good their customer service. Makita? Milwaukee? Dewalt?

My old Ridgid 1/4” impact driver finally died after years of faithful service. Which just means it’s time for an upgrade! If this tool is brushless, does that make my old driver brushfull? I digress. The first physical attribute I notice with this new driver is it is noticeably lighter than the old version which is great especially with batteries getting heavier the larger they get. I do miss the tiny flat face trigger button that actuated the light on the old model that is missing from this new model. The light is still physically on the driver, but gone is the ability to lightly squeeze the grip and have the light come on before you hard pull the trigger. Shame. The biggest improvement in my opinion is the new driver has torque settings. I absolutely love the lowest setting (#1) to start driving your screw without having the full force of all that torque transferred to your screw. Setting #2 is good for most all other driving where setting #3 is great for breaking just about anything loose. It’s hard to buy a replacement tool when your current tool is working fine, but this new model really is worth the upgrade. I don’t miss my old driver one bit. Very highly recommended!

The description said it was compatible with all 18V Ridgid tools, but it does not fit the 18V Ridgid ProPress. They need to clear about what they're selling, completely wasted my technicians time as well as mine.

                    Small But Powerful
I’m extremely impressed with this impact drill! This was my first time purchasing and using an impact driver, and its lightweight design and ease of use really stood out. It’s surprisingly compact—much smaller than a standard drill—but packs plenty of power. It has quickly become my go-to tool for tightening screws and drilling quick holes. The price is great—I got mine on sale, but even at full price, it’s well worth it. Plus, you can’t beat the quality and the lifetime warranty that comes with Ridgid tools.

8 Years and Still Going Strong
I bought my Ridgid R86036 18V cordless brushless impact driver in 2016 as we were beginning construction of our new home. I have now used it for hundreds of hours, driving thousands of screws of different types and sizes. It has never let me down. The 3 selectable speeds are particularly useful. It is now my favorite tool. I would definitely buy it again. But, I expect I won’t have to, because it is covered by the Ridgid Lifetime Warranty!

Excellent power for concrete, wood or brick
The RIDGID 18V Brushless 1/2” hammer drill is super powerful, it works great for drilling into concrete, brick, etc. The handle is easy to install and provides a sturdy grip when drilling into hard surfaces. It installs on either side so if you’re left or right handed you can put it on the side that’s the most comfortable. I used it to drill a hole in a CMU block and it tackled it no problem! It has a couple different power settings which you can change based on the type of application you’re doing. The light on the front of the drill is very nice when working in under-lit areas. It comes with a belt clip and a handy little attachment on the side to hold a drill bit. I always carry bits in my pocket and it’s kind of annoying so having a place on the side to store one is great. With old buildings you never know what type of fastener you’re going to run into so it’s nice to have options readily available. Would recommend.

                        Defective Quick Insert Collate
The new Ridgid subcompact's quick insert collate is defective. When pushing the collate to eject the bit holder, the collate often retracts back right away (it should only retract when inserting the bit holder). When inserting the bit holder again it would not lock in position as a result. It does not happen with the older subcompact impact driver (see pic)l. It works fine w Ridgid's Octane/Brushless impact drivers. Milwaukee M12 impact driver's quick insert collate works perfectly.

Great for use anywhere, including in close quarters (e.g., under kitchen sink)
This impact drill kit is great for driving screws because it develops terrific torque across all speeds. The speeds range from zero to 2,900 RPM over three speed ranges which makes it easy to adjust speeds during use. The light weight and small size make this drive easy to maneuver. These features are particularly useful when climbing up ladders to drive screws into roofs over decks and when working in cramped quarters, such as under kitchen sinks. The drive is 1/4" which is standard for screw drive bits. I am going to get an adapter that has a keyless chuck for drillbits. In the photograph I am using this drive to drill a hole using a bit that has a 1/4" drive and with a keyless chuck adapter I will be able to use large bits. As it comes, this a great drive for screws. I usually have to drills, one for drilling pilot holes and one from driving screws. This product is terrific for the one driving screws. And, to emphasize the points, it is very compact and has absolutely terrific torque that is with well controlled speed.

Such a great cordless impact driver/drill kit!
I am a Rigid Tool fan. I had another impact drill/driver from them that I really love and is still in use. However, this tool came along with its compact form factor, high torque, multi-speed, and great ergonomics - a Ridgid hallmark. The Kit was the big sell for me. As handy as the tool is, it is great to have charger, battery, belt clip, tool clip and Phillips head drive all combined in a convenient fabric case to take with you where you need it. 4 settings take you through 3 speeds and drill function.
