When it is time to care for your prickly plants.
This is a great soil when the time comes to give your succulents some TLC. Whether it is time to give your plants some fresh soil and nutrients or move them to a larger pot, this stuff is great. The one thing I noted was that they do not use peat moss. I applaud Rosy Soil for their sustainability plan. The soil has a good mix and feel to it. Drains well. Worth giving your cacti and succulents this great living soil.

ROSY SOIL 4 QT. CACTUS AND SUCCULENT POTTING MIX MICROBIAL ACTIVE LIVING SOIL FOR DESERT PLANT
This succulent mix is different from what my wife usually uses. It doesn't contain peat or perlite, but contains sand and pumice that should provide good drainage. In one photo, you can see the sand before adding water. The mix is a darker color in the pot because of the moisture. We don't know how long it will take to dry out since it was just planted. Information on the bag shows the small amount of nitrogen, phosphate and potash that comes from composted materials. You need keep the bag resealed when not using to protect the mycorrhizae (beneficial bacteria) which are valid for 2 years from the production date stamped on the seal; we can't find the date on the bag. If my wife doesn't use up the mix soon, she will contact the company. She's hoping for great results since other reviews have been positive.

A good eco-friendly chuncky mix for cactur and succulents.
This soil is easy to use right out of the bag. It feels like a good mix to help maintain cactus and succelents. It's nice and chucky that drains very well. It is made from eco-friendly, high-quality ingredientswith and is a living soil with beneficial fungi & microbes to help promote healthy growth. The bag itself is resealable so don't cut the top like I did.

Nice soil
I really like this cacti and succulent mix. In my succulent mixes, I like to have some moisture in the soil, but with sand to allow for better drainage. That is exactly how the soil came out of the bag. The bag mentioned that it may be necessary to add some water to the soil after opening, but the soil seemed really fresh and ready to go. The blend is advertised as optimizing soil aeration and supporting nutrient absorption. At first glance, the soil simply looks healthier than other brands I have bought. I’m eager to see the results.

Great soil mix
I liked this and have many cactus and succulents in my collection. Lots of sustainable sand, bio-char, pumice, pine bark, compost and mycorrhizae microorganisms in it to deliver important nutrients to the plants. No peat is used so not to deplete this important ecosystem resource. Fast draining, synthetic free, and comes in a 4 quart resealable bag. Easy to use with instructions on side of bag. Picture of rear of bag has a few tiny claw holes in it since my cat thought it was cat food. Silly boy.

Coarse Sustainable Soil
This is a 4 qt. bag of potting soil designed for Cactus, Succulents, Desert Plants and Terrariums. It is my first experience using ROSY SOIL. I’m very impressed with their sustainability efforts. According to the bag, this soil has a net neutral carbon footprint. Part of that is accomplished by NOT including peat moss in the mix. The soil itself is what I would call quite granular. It also appears to contain some small rocks in it. I found it very easy to work with, not compacted like other potting mixes I have used. Based on its composition and how it felt while transplanting a small aloe plant, I think it is going to drain well. The instructions do state that the soil should be moistened and mixed well before using it for potting. To do that you will need to have another container handy. This soil was easy to use and the bag it comes in is resealable for storage. I’m expecting my little aloe plant to grow well in its new ROSY SOIL home.

quality soil!
This is quality soil! As advertised, it is for cactus and other succulent plants. But I used it with my rose cutting. The soil looks good and rich, and it drains well. The bag of soil was a lot smaller than I expected, but this would be good for small projects where you are transplanting, or replanting some cacti/succulents. I also plan to use this for repotting some of my aloe vera plants.

dark gritty textured soil with no peat
This is the cactus and succulent blend that I am reviewing. It is a good dark soil that has a bit of gritty feel that you get from the sand that's added for drainage. Its a bit darker than I am used to but it does lighten after a few days when the sandy parts become more apparent. I did not find many larger chunks of anything in my mix, just a few that may be pumice but it is very hard so I couldn't tell. According to the label- there's compost and bark in the mix but I didn't find any chunks of it so it must be very decomposed. The soil compacts well, drainage is good for cactus. I don't water much after the initial transplant to allow for settling. There's no peat in this mix, which I find is bet for cactus anyway.

Cactus are now growing like weeds
I couldn't get my cactus seeds to grow further than sprouting. I replaced some of the soil they came with to the Rosy cactus and succulent sail and they took off! Before and after pictures are attached. This product is very easy to use. Genius that the bag is easily resealable! Thanks Home Depot for carrying this soil!
