Product Overview

The MAZE Two stage Compost Tumbler is designed to generate the most amount of compost over time. Constructed from a zinc coated metal frame to prevent rust and a body constructed from high impact UV protected plastic. The patent pending built in ratchet lock along with the geared rotating handle make it much easier than other composters in the marketplace to turn and mix the compost material. The large open area underneath the composter allows for easy emptying. With the optional compost cart that fits right underneath the composter makes moving your newly made compost simple, clean, and easy. The composter itself can be set up to compost the full 65 gallons at a time or to be split into 2 composters allowing for compost to be made while the other side is being loaded with fresh compost material, keeping a constant flow of compost from being made.

The composter barrel is 30" wide, and when both doors are opened to the point where they are about to fall off, it measures 48" wide. Should work fine in a 48" wide space. The doors are intended to be reversed so you can indicate which side is aging, and which is being added to. Make sure that you place the composter so that you can remove the lids on at least one side.

So far so good. Took a long time to put together but was straight forward. Only concern is UV resilience outside. May have to update later after owning for a while and allowing it to be outside..

We've had this about a month and are happy as can be so far! After reading other reviews, we decided to time how long it took to assemble; just a smidge over an hour and that includes actually reading the directions and counting all the screws and other bits and pieces! Assembly was straightforward and the directions were quite literal and easy to follow. Would definitely recommend putting this exactly where you want it, because once it starts getting filled you will not be able to move it! It's also kind of hard to get tumbling when it's full. We've found it necessary to hold the handle near the crank arm to minimize flex. Also the ratchet dog sometimes won't engage, but is easily solved by just clicking it against the pawls. Overall this is a very clever design that's easy to assemble and easy to live with. We had a batch of compost already started in a muck tub, and it processed so much faster in this. We're really happy with this purchase. Assembly was easy and the quality seems up to par for the long haul.

Perfect and the assembly was not as bad as the reviews stated. I also thought we were missing a part, called C/S and they were great. we got the part we asked for in two days (even though we didn't really need it in the end). Happy composting!

Easier to assemble than Ikea furniture. Works great and the instructions were very clear in contrast to the nordic runes that sometimes accompany assembly instructions from that other retailer. Love the product.

Got this a few months ago and it is great. You will probably need 2 people to assemble it (not sure how you could accomplish some parts with just one person), but after assembly, it's very easy to use. I have not been using it long enough yet to have completed a compost lifecycle, but in addition to being able to produce my own compost in the future and reuse organic waste, it is very nice to be keeping that waste and its smell out of the garbage can. It also has been a good place to put rodents my cat catches, and eventually compostable kitty litter when I switch that over. The crank handle has good mechanical advantage so once you've set the composter up, it is very easy to use, and the 2 chambers with interchangeable access panels are very convenient. The base feels nice and stable as well, I've never worried about the composter tipping over.
