If I'm not going to cut over a 5" branch, is there any advantage to this over the 8 in. 18-Volt model? Does this cut faster or is there some other reason to get the 40-Volt model? Unless there is some reason this one is better, I already have a bunch of 18-Volt tools...
Asked by: TrailMoose
From my reading the 18 V shaft is plastic where is the 40 V is metal. Thus you will have less flex with the metal shaft. If you have other 40 V tools, lawnmower, string trimmer, blower, and the like, I would go with the 40 V. If not having a 40 V batteries try out the 18 V. Many people rave positively about the 18 V model.

I want to buy a Ryobi chain saw. Why should I buy a 10", 40 V please vs the less expensive Ryobi18 V pole saw?

Asked by: Rick
40 V will have a longer run time, and more power for a longer period of time. Depends on what you’re cutting if you’re cutting 6-8 inch logs or limbs the 40 V may be better. If you’re not cutting that you may want to go with the 18 V. Many people rave positively about the 18 V. One downside to the 18 V, unless they change their style, it has a plastic shaft, thus more flexible than the 40 V metal shaft.
