It's possible but you'll have to use a 1/4 or .325 pitch chain and you'll have to increase the chain oiler feed rate.

Very well made saw
Customer review from ryobitools.com logo
I bought this as my first chainsaw and didn't know what to expect. Some reviews said it was a garbage saw, others thought very highly of it. From the first time I pulled the string, I knew it would be a good saw. It doesn't feel cheap. The engine runs smoothly. It made quick work of a couple logs I needed to take care of and was asking for more. I'm very happy I chose this saw [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Picked this saw up to clear some neglected property of leaning trees, dead trees and fallen limbs. The saw did OK for the first tank of gas. If it ran out of gas or the engine died it wouldn't start back for 30 minutes at best. I usually had to pull the starter 20-30 times. This saw might be fine for cutting limbs. It is light and easy to move with and be safe. However, I can't use it to cut a hardwood tree green or down. It takes a long time to cut 6"-8" pine trees, tree of heavens, and dead trees. I could cut down about three of these weed like trees on a tank of gas and cut it down to brush fire size. I picked up a new chain from HD that was Oregon brand to see if it acted different. The saw still cut slow and bogged down easy. If you plan on cutting firewood or using more than one tank of gas on a job you may want to try something else. It does come in a nice box but I'm going to have to get something different to finish up.

I am an average home owner that I like to do and repair things on my own. This was my first time purchasing a Chainsaw not my first time using one and decided to go with Ryobi because of the price and compare with the other expensive brands this one show better features but dont let the features or accessories trick you. I spend two days with this chainsaw pulling the cord, fighting to turning on and I follow every step on the guide, plus watch many videos in youtube in how to use it, the first day I can only used it for one hour by next day the chain was already loose and need it an adjustment around 5pm on day number two I was frustrate, tired and sore for spending all day trying to turn the chain saw. I decided to go back to Home Depot returned and purchase an ECHO Chainsaw for my surprise the machine turn on with no effort and the engine stay on the whole time in just one hour was able to cut all the wood that I tried to cut in two days with the Ryobi. The quality of the Echo compare with this piece of crap was so noticeable that my wife came out of that house because the sound of the motor of the Echo sound like a sport car compare with the motor of the Ryobi that sound more like a Hyundai going up hill. I will not purchased a Ryobi brand ever again in the past I purchased drills and staples guns and ended up returning the equipment and purchasing Dewalt tools the chainsaw was my naive hope that this time Ryobi was going to be at the same level of the other brands. You get what you paid for.

Not bad
It cuts good for the money but if your chain comes off be patient and put chain on the correct way. It took me a long time to figure how to reseed chain, hand tighten nuts and tighten retention screw but i got it to exactly how it was brand new. Now i could do it easily i think. I let it get loose and came off in a tree. I brought in the house and sat down in the floor and went over it and over it. Got the chain finally lined up. If you put on backwards youll know because it wont look right and wont run. Dont let it get too much slack keep it tightened.

Awesome Chainsaw!
Customer review from ryobitools.com logo
I bought this chainsaw so I didn’t have to pay a professional to come out and take down a dead tree. I looked at all the reviews last night and decided to go with this particular model because it had the best ratings. It worked like a charm and I was able to take down the tree in less time then it did for me to load it up in my trailer. The instructions were very helpful because I’ve never used a chainsaw before and I was able to get it gased up and started with ease. I definitely recommend this chainsaw and look forward to using it in keeping up with my yard. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
