Another nice tool, but bar protector is not as pictured.
I've used it to clean up some limbs around the edge of my property and it worked very well. I love it compared to the manual trimmer I had. Time will tell how it stands up to use. The only CON is that they discontinued the nice bar protector with a cheap sleeve that is hard to get on. See picture.

    Great, easy to use tool
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Needed this for those hard to reach spots on trees in my yard. Used it and it went through branches like a hot knife in butter. Incredibly easy to use and easy assembly. Love the engineering in this one.

This pole saw exceeded my expectations. Mind you I've only used it one day and I'll update the review if things change, but this thing easily handled an afternoon of cutting branches from my wooded lot up to I'd say 4 inch branches quickly and with no problem. The chain does loosen up periodically like others have said, but it's very easy to use the included tool to re-adjust. The convenience and speed of cut makes this easy to overlook. It also goes through the chain oil, but that's not much a bad thing considering I lost count of the number of branches and small trees I cut using it. What blew me away though was that it only went through 1/2 a 6AH battery. I was guessing it would go through the battery pretty quick, but luckily for the remaining small trees I got tired of cutting before the battery could have a chance to be used up.

      Good Pruduct Idea but.......
This pole saw leverages Ryobi's 18V family of batteries and tools. It's a great idea. It will allow you to cut high hanging branches much faster and safer than doing it with a ladder. The 18V provides enough power to cut through limbs as large as 6 inches. With about 30 minutes on the use clock, my expectations were shattered. One of the joints failed as I was un-doing it. See the attached jpeg. At the same time the chain came off the saw. It's easy to replace but I noticed that there is no adjustment for chain length. After 30 minutes of use, the chain had stretched enough such that it will always fall off the static mount. They want you to buy a new chain but this can get expensive. This is going back to HD for a refund. I hope Ryobi improves the product so I can buy it.

        DO NOT BUY THIS
I purchased last summer, June 2020 the > ONE+ 18-Volt Cordless String Trimmer/Edger and Blower/Sweeper Combo Kit (2-Tool) - 2.0 Ah Battery and Charger Included. < this isn't to bad. Since I had the battery, I only needed to purchase the "tool" only pole saw. I am a 60 yr old lady and pretty handy doing all my yard work, just wanted the pole saw to help in areas I could not tend to. so the pole saw simply to put together, BUT the stupid chain came off within 5 minutes, put it back on, it came off again, and again , and again. Purchased on 4/3/2021 and it is going back. Skinny branches, and nothing more than 4 inches and the blasted chain pops off. i do not know if I just got a lemon, but not thanks

Strap broke after 30 minutes of cutting
I really love this tool and I’m a huge Ryobi fan but I’m sincerely disappointed by the strap mechanism breaking within (literally) thirty minutes of use. I hope this isn’t indicative of the quality of the entire tool.

            does not accept Ryobi battery
PRO: good value at the price i got it for, but probably only for the homeowner that doesn't use this too frequently ($68) battery lasts quite a while (3Ah) has the average set of features CON: lemon/faulty battery connection flexing while using extension pole adding/removing poles takes some time Not sure if I received a lemon or a faulty piece that somehow got past Quality. The battery (Lithium+ HP 18v 3Ah) does not fully seat in the tool. The tool seems to be missing a notch that allows the battery to slide in all the way, meaning that the battery will not clamp into the tool. See images for details. Also included is a separate tool that does have the mentioned notch. I also checked against my other Ryobi tools, which also had notches. Will be checking out customer service/warranty about this. Got it on sale and would consider it an excellent value for the homeowner that needs a pole saw but doesn't use this it too frequently. Works well and as expected, when the battery doesn't slide out. Surprisingly strong for a 18v. Battery lasts a long time while using this. Used to prune 1"-3" diameter Asian pear trees, mostly averaging at 2". Has the normal amount of features and is easy enough to use. Pole extensions take a minute or two to assemble or disassemble, so if you have to switch frequently, know that will take some time. When using the extension, the pole saw did seem to flex. Not sure if it was designed to do so, but probably not. Temporarily stored it laying on the floor with a little bit of oil and noticed a day later that it did leak some. Like other posts say, could empty it out between uses.

              Very useful tool
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this tool two years ago, and this is the only tool I have that others ask to borrow. I’m a widow who has an acre of land to keep up that has a lot of trees. With this tool I’ve saved myself money that I would have otherwise had to spend hiring work out. ITs a lovely little chainsaw that I’ve learned to use and maintain by reading all instructions and then of course frequent use. I use it primarily late fall to early spring on some pruning, but mostly branch removal and brush removal. If one uses it correctly, it’s a breeze to use, and I follow safety precautions. My friends and family love it. I urge them to buy their own, which I think they will. The only feature that I’m personally unable to use is the extension which adds a bit more weight and because of the height, I’m unable to control that well. However, my son-in-law handles that quite easily. In my photo I show you a pile which appears to be between the car and a pine tree. That represented the trimmings from about a dozen shrubs and dead or dying branches from about 20 trees.

Bent the chain bar after a few hours of light use
The "bar" the chain goes around is possibly bent after a few hours of light-moderate use. The factory chain tension appeared appropriate, I did not change chain tension. I did not drop the tool nor apply much force to it. The motor is quite strong this could have occurred when a twig became lodged in the chain where it entered the housing. Twigs getting stuck in the chain occurred occasionally. Prior to the part failure I had no other complaints about the tool I thought it was awesome worked great, easy to use. Strong motor.

                    Love this Polesaw!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife bought me this pole saw for my birthday. Tried it yesterday & absolutely love it! Lightweight, aggressive cutting & easy to use. Surprised at how quickly it cuts through Live Oak limbs. Added bonus - the batteries are interchangeable with my other Ryobi tools.

                          Great pole saw
This pole saw is very easy and fun to use. It is moderate in weight and the strap makes it easier to stabilize while its extended. It's also fairly quiet for the job at hand. The connections to extend it are easy to set up as well. I've had this saw for over two years and it's very versatile to use. I have done many small limb trimming jobs with this saw without much problem. The one complaint that I have is that it goes through bar oil really quickly. It also leaks bar oil while it's in storage even when to cap is on tight. I always have to make sure that this saw is sitting upright so that it doesn't leak bar oil everywhere. It does meet my expectations. Please hit the thumbs up if this was helpful.

So far I'm Happy With it
I was hesitant to buy this pole saw as my experience with some other Roybi power tools (screw gun and impact drill) is they have a tendency to overheat and burn up if used hard. However, so far this one appears to do well. I'm impressed with how easily it cuts through 6" round hardwood. The battery lasts and it doesn't get hot. Some areas where there could be improvements: 1) The rod worries me a bit. At 9', when you cut trough a limb it's impossible not to have some momentum. I'm concerned the pole might break and I'm having to be very careful to control the downward motion. 2) The tool for tightening the chain does not have a holder built into the saw. The chain (especially when new) will get lose. Then you have to stop, trudge off to get the wrench. It's small and light, why not add a place to secure it so it's always available. 3) The oil reservoir has a small opaque viewer, not always easy to see if theirs oil. So check it often. 4) Would be great if you could assemble the battery head directly to the blade instead of having 6' of pole in-between. That way once you drop a limp you could easily use it like a small chainsaw to section. Overall, I'm impressed. It made short work of a very large maple with big branches hanging over my roof. I half believe if the blade were 14" I could cut down the entire tree.

the pole saw cut everything i put in front of it. a little flimsy but it works. i like how you can take it apart for storage. i not big into gas powered tools this work great for my needs. the battery lasted an hour then it died but it did alot of work in that hour.

This chainsaw is a joke. My kids have toys that work better than this. I could have done better cutting limbs with my kitchen knives . Extremely flimsy. Couldn’t Cut one branch.

Assembly was easy and operation was simple for this middle aged not so handyman The saw was perfect for my 20 over grown arbivitae that had reached 12 feet in height and trimming them down to 7 feet didn't require the extension pole. Battery life lasted an hour of continuous use which was fine given the weight of the unit which makes for a bit of a workout. Battery recharge is very quick and takes about 30-40 minutes. Perfect tool for occasional homeowner maintenance jobs. Price was great compared to job quotes by landscapers I saved quite a lot of money.

My view is significantly improved! Thanks Ryobi.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this yesterday, charged up the battery, and removed some low hanging branches from an oak tree in my backyard. Walked back up to the house and can see the beautiful river and marsh grass so much better. It was easy to use and even though I didn't get the battery charged fully I had enough juice for several important cuts. The only complaint is that I didn't know I needed to purchase bar and chain oil to go along with it, so I had to make another trip out to the hardware store.

                                        Great value! Easy to use!
The right tool for the right job. It lasted longer than I expected! Got the job done with ease! It's a out balancing and like a previous reviewer said " let gravity do the work and let the saw work. My neighbors watched in amazement because it dosen't look like much and I put it to together quickly. The look on their faces as the branches are being cut with ease. Sometimes holding the saw with one hand! So far so great!

Overall I was very impressed!! The pole extension makes me a little nervous that the connection points are plastic I would hope a future model would be using metal but other than that it was a great help and definitely got the work done

One of the improvements yet by Ryobi
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this tool on a whim to add to my tool collection. I own a gas powered version of this tool and it was not running well. I purchased this tool and instantly was impressed! Other than having a bigger battery come standard, I would not change anything. Not only does this tool work flawlessly, but unlike a gas version of this tool, the extensions do not cause any power or performance loss when used. The extensions are contact extensions versus drive shaft extensions. This keeps the same amount of power going to the cutting bar and causing no extra battery drain. Anyone who has used a gas powered version with extensions, knows that for each extension that is added, the cutting power decreases. Best improved tool yet by Ryobi.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Ryobi 18 volt + Pole Chain Saw from Home Depot is quite the power work-horse when it comes to cutting branches. See it in action on the video. I'm very pleased with it and hope to cut a lot of branches in my little forest.

                                          Great value
I purchased the tool only version since I have several Ryobi 18 volt batteries. This is a light/medium duty saw for homeowners. I like the automatic oiling feature and the ease of assembly. I cut a few limbs up to 2..5 inches with no issues. It's not the fastest, but I'm very satisfied so far. For the price, brand reputation I highly recommend this saw.

This saw rocks! It takes abuse and keeps on working. The motor doesn't get hot and it doesn't bog down. I've used it everyday for three weeks and it's worked like a champ, using a 4 amp hour battery it runs several hours. Never going back to a manual pole saw again!
