I thought this saw came with oil but it doesn't. If I am reading the manual correctly, then I need to put oil in the tool before using. Is that correct? It's not pre-lubricated?

      Answer This Question

Hello, Tee24 - The pole saw comes from the factory with no bar and chain lubricant added, so you will need to add lubricant before the first use. The lubricant level should also be checked after every 20 minutes of use and refilled as needed. If you need further support, then feel free to ask another question. You can also contact us by phone or text at 1.800.525.2579, Monday - Friday from 9 am to 5 pm (EST), or via email when you visit us at https://www.ryobitools.com/support/contact. Simple and easy to use.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very simple and easy to use. The weight of this pole saw is evenly distributed and holding on to it with the included shoulder strap made it very comfortable to use. I recommend this product to anyone looking to trim some branches off of their trees.

                    Great Pole Saw
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the P4360 tool only version. So far I've used it to cut down some dead branches from the trees in my back yard. I took it over to my brothers house to trim up a tree in his front yard. It works great! The oil is easy to fill and the chain tensioner is easy to adjust. Use extra caution when climbing a ladder when you have the middle section of the pole installed. It can be awkward. Also, be careful where you place your ladder. You don't want any limbs falling on your head. The motor is powerful and the chain cut limbs easily. It makes tree trimming a breeze. I recommend this pole saw.

                      Awsome pole saw
This did not disappoint!! I have 2 pictures that shows how well it did. A couple of things, oil, and tighten the chain. I tightened the chain 4 times and it come off once. Super easy to tighten. I added oil once in this project. I thought the strap made it harder to use so I soon took it off. Good saw for your money. One more thing the battery with this is pretty small. I used my big ryobe batterys

I purchased this product to cut branches off a tall tree drooping into my yard and it was the perfect tool i needed. However, it is unwieldy and requires strong arms and back to lift up high so i had my son perform the cutting

                          UNBELIEVABLY EASY & EFFICIENT
It took 30 min & approx 25cuts using the RYOBI 9.0 battery 2 take this tree down (approx 18 of those being minor limb cuts: 2”or smaller & 7 cuts ranging from 3”- 7-3/8”) It cut thru that pine like a steak knife thru prime rib w/ no issues even while having it @ full extension! Technically, the only “issue” I had was on the Final Cut of 7-3/8”: I had to manipulate the angle while often cutting “up” from the bottom. It took approx 3min 2make that Final Cut! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS POLE SAW.

                                Saved the Day!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got hit by a tornado and had significant tree damage. This tool saved me thousands of dollars a tree company would have charged for more minor branch cleanup. No this will not cut through tree trunks but I did not find a job it could not do. I am back in the Ryobi family! Thank you for being a great tool.

Good at first, now some issues
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Right off the bat, I am a big proponent of Ryobi 18v tools and I have a lot of them. (see photo, not all tools shown). I bought the pole saw almost a year ago and it’s worked well for the many limbs on my property. First off, this is a LONG tool when all 3 sections are connected. The section tubes are metal which makes this very heavy after a while. Because the tubes connect, there are plastic threaded compression connectors that join the sections together. The male portion of the connector is (I believe) riveted to the steel tube. (See photo) The sliding female portion threads over the male portion and squeezes against the metal tube to create a rigid connection. When new, that connection was stiff and kept the overall pole saw very straight. What has happened now is that (I believe) the rivets holding the male portion of the threaded connector to the steel tube have come loose. As a result, the connected poles, no matter how much the plastic connectors are tightened, now have a lot of flex in the overall length of the saw. I wish I could post video to show how much. Granted, the saw still works but it is no longer stiff like it was when new. Normally when cutting limbs, there isn’t much pressure needed on the saw chain to cut. Now, with the added flex of the tubes, I have to put pressure on the poles to have the chain cut well. A redesign to have just a solid, aluminum pole instead of the 3 steel poles would take care of the flex issue and the weight issue. I know there would be a packaging issue with a 7’ or 8’ pole. The second issue is I have is a minor one. There is a hex bolt that holds the plastic cover in place that covers the chain and sprocket. There is also a screw that is used to adjust the tension on the chain. The bolt has a hex head, the screw has a slotted screwdriver head. Thus, I need 2 tools to to service the chain. It would be more efficient to have a slotted hex head bolt and then just use a screwdriver for both operations. Minor, but annoying. Otherwise, the saw has worked well for me and I’m happy I bought it. The batteries last long enough that when they die, it’s time for a break to rest my arms!

                                    18v Cordless Pole Chainsaw
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this 8" cordless pole chainsaw this afternoon, took it home, read the owners manual, added Ryobi chain oil, plugged in a 18v Ryobi 4ah battery and proceeded to cut down at least 20 limbs from 1" to 5" in diameter. This tool cut through the limbs like butter with no problems at all. I have been wanting one of these tools for a few years, now that I have it, no more standing on a ladder with a corded sawzall. This was another Ryobi purchase that I am very pleased with and do not know how I have gotten by without for all of these years. Another great Ryobi product, well done!!!
