Dear lord! It did the job. Professional removal company wanted to charge me $1900 to remove a willow tree. 4 full days later the tree is down!
Battery last longer than I expected it to last each day.

Great grab and go tool for small to medium projects
We got this pole saw to add to our other Ryobi battery yard tools when working at my mother in law's home. She has a small yard and this pole saw is great for trimming and pruning her bushes and trees. I really like the fact that all I have to do is grab a couple of batteries and we are ready to go to work. It does not require chain oil which is a great convenience - no mess and expense. The pole saw is really top heavy since the motor is located at the head of the unit near the chain. Therefore, I typically do not use the 3 foot extension and always try to use a larger, heavier amp battery. In comparison, using a 9 amp battery vs. the 1.5 amp supplied battery moves the balance point 10 inches closer to the handle - making it easier to use. It comes with an on board tool for adjusting the chain tension - which is nice. The pole saw does need a better cover for the blade. The one supplied is very flimsy and you can easily cut your hand when you try and put the cover on the blade.

Fabulous pole saw
The Ryobi electric pole saw is a great pruning tool for those moments you just shouldn't get a ladder out. Fresh out of the box this saw cuts like a hot knife through butter. I normally would use a reciprocating saw on low tree branches but when they are just out of reach or 10 feet away this tool comes to the rescue. It works great with or without the extension pole. The business end of the tool has a bit of weight to it that isn't counter balanced well, but using the included strap makes it manageable to get it up into the tree. Then the head rests on the tree branch and that weight comes to use for cutting. It also has a little plastic notch to hook and pull limbs if they get tangled in the tree. Overall a great tool for people who have small trees that need to be trimmed.

Nothing special. This is a bare basic starter kit. Ryobi makes great chainsaws, I felt this could have been better
This kit lost 2 stars from me for a number of reasons. The battery it comes does not contain a fuel Gauge, the cover for the bar and chain is not like the normal scabbards that comes with polesaws, as it does not cover the entire bar and chain. I would like a telescopic pole instead of the two attachments. Even a foldable arm would have been better, to save time and space and to show some of the innovation that Ryobi is known for. A case would have been great too,
to keep everything together. A suggestion for a next gen model is to include an LED as that would really come in handy during post storm cleanups. Overall I like that the bar is at an angle, as it makes it easier for me to make cuts as I apply downward pressure on the polesaw. I used this on branches that were hanging too low and it worked well. The hook worked well for tangled branches that I wanted to move out of the way. With just the one arm attached I was able to reach a great distance, and that distance is increased with the second arm. This product does not have a tank for oil, so you do not have to worry about it leaking when not in use, but it is a good idea to apply a little to the bar and chain nonetheless.

Not a bad value. Zips through stout branches
With this kit you get a saw with an extension arm, battery, and charger. Given that battery and charger cost nearly a $100 when purchased separately, it makes the saw a pretty good value. The extension arms screw together to get full length. There is a bit of play at each of the connections so it wobbles a bit. But for vertical cutting it isn’t an issue. The saw motor is at the top of the arm so it’s a bit top heavy. The chain was nice and sharp and easily cut through branches. I tried it on palm fronds which tend to be stringy and it still had no issues. Zipping right through them. Then I tried it on smaller branched trees (silver sheen) and it had trouble. The skinny branches flexed around too much and tore and splintered, which jammed the cutting chain. I realized I was using the wrong tool for that job but I wanted to see the limits. I was pretty impressed with this tool. It seems like a good value and overall I would give it a “B” grade.

Great for the small jobs
Ryobi's new battery powered 18V Pole Saw (One+) is ideal for trimming and pruning dead or overgrowth in your trees. Plenty of Power and Reach
I was eager to try out the Ryobi 18V 8 in. Electric Cordless Battery Pole Saw. In a jiffy I had it assembled and was ready to work. The extension and couplings fit together securely. It is well balanced, no wobbling like others I've owned. A 1.5 amp battery and charger is included. It has an onboard tool to adjust the chain when needed. I'm impressed with the oil free feature; it saved me a lot of time; even though my dad yelled at me for not bringing bar and chain oil. I cut down several overhanging limbs on my property and cut some for my neighbor. The saw performed better than expected. The battery lasted much longer than I thought it would. It is a very well made saw. I appreciate not having to risk climbing a ladder to cut limbs. I must say, it performed impressively. When I need a power tool, Ryobi is my first stop, they have never disappointed me.
