Your batteries will work! ALL tools and batteries in the ONE+ line are interchangeable and compatible.
The P238 has a slightly different light configuration ( tri beam located around the nose piece). This tool does not "lack speed ( RPM) torque ( in foot-lbs) or Impacts. There might be small differences in the specs for these tools, But I assure you that for most applications, ALL cordless drill drivers in the 18 volt range will be fine for any conceivable DIY project. The ONLY time high torque is needed is for LARGE mechanical fasteners, especially removing rusted bolts on engines of wheels and such. Since this is a 1/4 inch tool, it is not made for those heavy duty applications, just like ALL 1/4" tools from any manufacturer. In general, TORQUE is the amount of "twisting power." RPM is the rotational SPEED. BPM, stands for "beats per minute" and that refers to the tool's hammer action; how many times it hammers or "beats" per unit of time ( minute) There MAIN REASON we use DRIVERS is, they have tha hammer action which helps keep the bit engaged, thereby reducing "cam- out." The BEST video explanation of that is by Matthias Wandel, who has a YouTube channel of the same name. I'll provide a link to that video so you can find it fast.
I did not like that mine did not come with a belt clip also. Go to the ryobi site and theres a section for replacement parts. Good luck tho as the belt clips are always out of stock.
Yes The higher the amp hours the longer it will run
Higher IPM = Faster work IF the current torque is enough for the job. Higher torque = More work can be done. Some can even remove tire lug nuts. For me, higher torque is more important as, unless you drive hundreds of screws everyday, a bit faster work won't really change anything. (And those people who do that probably won't use Ryobi) But if an impact driver can even remove my lug nuts, it would be a huge plus for me.
Hmmm... I'll try to answer your question as fully and fairly as possible... Since I have never had any grips come off any of my tools by Ryobi or any other manufacturer, that would seem to indicate the common denominator here is you. In fact, I have never heard of any grips falling off any ryboi tools. I HAVE herd about overmoldings being damaged by caustic chemicals such as brake fluid, paint thinner, acetone and such. But even then, the overmolding does not "fall off." It gradually dissolves or disintegrates over time. If that is what you mean, then perhaps this will help... ALL tools with rubber or polypropylene moldings can be affected by caustic compounds. Even the most expensive German tools are susceptible to chemical corrosion. So if you consistently experience problem with that, you might need to consider cleaning and storing your tools differently. Either that, or learn to live without rubber grips. You can always replace missing or damaged grips with grip tape. Some people actually prefer grip TAPE over the stock moldings on most tools. If you work in particularly harsh environments, that may be a good option for any tools you use. Hope that helps! Good luck!
Hi Curious, You are correct to observe that the the tools and batteries in this kit lack the extra set of contacts found on Ryobi's tools which are labeled "Lithium+ HP Technology". All 18v Ryobi batteries contain three contacts at the top of the stem. The two on the sides are for power and the third in front is used only by chargers. All 18v Ryobi tools draw power from the two contacts on the sides at the top of the battery stem. When Ryobi switched from NiCD to Lithium chemistry, two more contacts (#4 and #5) were added to the batteries, located at the base of the stem and in front. Only one of these two contacts was ever actually used, and only by chargers. Ryobi eventually stopped adding the unused contact to newer batteries. When Ryobi released "Lithium+ HP Technology", two more contacts (#6 and #7) were added to the batteries, located at the base of the stem and in back. Tools advertised as having "Lithium+ HP Technology" have two more contacts which match contacts #6 and #7 on the Lithium+ HP batteries. The ONE+ HP Brushless Compact tools in this kit lack contacts #6 and #7, so there's no "Lithium+ HP Technology".
That i cannot help with, im in the same boat, it would be great to have that necessity.
Hello 10 Aseedude, The RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Compact 1/4 in. Impact Driver Kit with (2) 1.5 Ah Batteries, Charger and Bag PSBID01K cannot be used to remove lug nuts. The primary function of this tool is for driving, tightening, and removing screws, nuts, and bolts. You will need an impact wrench for that application. I hope this helps and thanks for asking! - Eve
Hi BrotherBill, Thanks for your question on the RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Compact 1/4 in. Impact Driver Kit with (2) 1.5 Ah Batteries, Charger and Bag PSBID01K. The bits will snap in using the one handed bit release. I hope this helps and let me know if I can assist you in the future. - Eve
