Most irrigation manifolds are very flimsy and break easily (this one is no exception). Mine were continually broken by my lawn service guy who would step on them and not realize they were broken. I now use these Rain-Bird manifolds, however, because the connectors are on the sides of the manifold, rather than through the top. I cover them with about 1" of landscape rock and make sure that the tube connectors are supported by rocks underneath the manifold. This will support the weight of a typical landscape employee and prevent the tubes connectors from breaking off. To set expectations, I find these manifolds do last about 1-2 years regardless if not stepped on, about the same as the other brands that go out the top.

Two had the top completely blown off and one was only a day old cause a 20 foot high fountain in the yard. Two more had to be replaced cause the head cracked(probably due to AZ heat) and started to spray water everywhere. Last one had a barb break off with ease. Also the stock barb caps will blow off as they loosen up in the heat. Poor design overall with the top head of the unit being glued on main body by a thread (see picture and tiny strip of black glue on bottom of cap) and the barb caps need to be threaded on. Do not waste your money on these they will cause you far more work then they're worth.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from these are junk and break easily Love most rain burd products. This one is junk. If the outlets dont break off and stab youre a lucky one. Once you get one installed youll be even luckier if it lasts longer than a week before it shoots the top right off. So much for drip lines when it creates a geyser shooting all over your yard after it pops its top

Covers on port difficult to pull off; I guess they need to be tight to keep non-used ports from leaking. I had it in my garden only 2 weeks. When I went to pull off the cover of one port in order to install additional drip line, the plastic broke. There was no way to fix or block it; had to replace whole piece. At least they aren't expensive, but still a bit of a hassle.
