A:  To set the pattern, start by turning the center cap of the rotor all the way to right then to the left until it stops. This is the rotor's fixed left edge, which identifies where the sprinkler's rotation will begin. Be sure not to force the rotor past the fixed left edge as it may strip the internal gears. Next, rotate the entire rotor case until the left edge is in the correct starting point to begin watering. With the water on or off, use a flat bladed screwdriver to turn the arc adjustment screw clockwise to increase the arc or counterclockwise to decrease the arc. A:  Age, excessive pressure or poor water quality may eventually allow particles of contamination to enter the gear drive and stop it from popping up or rotating. If the sprinkler is no longer rotating and the water flow coming out of the sprinkler has decreased, you can first try cleaning out the filter by removing the pop-up assembly from the main body. If that doesn't work, you'll want to check the water pressure that hits the gears in your sprinkler. There are several common reasons why you might have low water pressure, including too much demand on your system, leaks in the pipes that supply your outside water or closed water valves. Another root cause may be a damaged sprinkler head, as lawnmowers and cars can hit them, or you can unknowingly damage them while hauling garden supplies. They also can wear out over time.
