If your valve is a Rain Bird APAS-075 (3/4 in.) with the newer hex-shaped solenoid, this replacement kit is the correct part. The APAS-075 uses the B60599 Solenoid Replacement Kit, which is compatible with both 3/4 in. and 1 in. APAS valves. One important note: this kit is not compatible with older APAS valves that have the round, ridged-style solenoid. This solenoid kit is designed for 24 VAC systems and is not compatible with the ESP‑9V controller. The ESP‑9V requires a 9‑volt latching solenoid to function properly, so you will need a 9‑V replacement instead. This specific solenoid is for Rain Bird valves including DAS in-line valves, CP and CPF in-line valves, ASV and ASVF anti-siphon valves, JTV and JTVF jar top valves, and JTVAS and JTASF jar top anti-siphon valves. There can be a number of potential causes for a malfunctioning valve. A good place to start is the solenoid. First, you'll want to check for dirt impeding the movement of the plunger on the solenoid. To do this, turn off the water and remove power to the solenoid. Unscrew the solenoid. Sometimes the plunger inside the solenoid can become stuck in the upward position due to dirt in the solenoid. Run water into the solenoid to dislodge dirt. Push a piece of wire into the small hole in the retainer at the bottom of the solenoid to see if the plunger inside will move up and down freely. Next, check to ensure you're getting power to from the controller to the valve. The solenoid should make a distinct "click" when activated. If timer and wiring check out, try unscrewing the solenoid and swapping it with a nearby valve of the same model. Using the "Manual Start" on your timer, check the station again to see if the borrowed solenoid activates the valve. You should also check that the valve opening mechanism or bleed port on the valve itself aren't damaged or clogged with debris.
