Thank you for reaching out to us, Steve. Sleeve anchors work well when voids are possibly behind such as brick, block, and hollow masonry. Since this would be exposed to the elements, the 304 stainless style may be considered. Please feel free to call us at (800) 222-6990 or email us at redhead-website@itwbrands.com with any questions.
Hi - Thanks for your question! For application specific questions, please reach out directly to our customer service team at 877-489-2726.
Check the specifications table because the answer depends on how hard the material they are embedded into is, and if you are concerned with tension or shear strength. The lowest value I saw is 1160 lb for a 3/8" anchor in soft masonry
3/8” masonry bit with a hammer drill.
3/8"
All installation instructions are on the packaging, but you need a 3/8in diameter drill bit. You want to make the hole slightly deeper than the length you choose to ensure a snug fit before tightening the nut.
3/8 concrete drill
The RedHead spec sheet says tension up to 1360 lbs, shear up to 2560 lbs.
They cannot be removed. You need to cut them off flush and drill new holes since the sleeve compresses as you tighten the nut. If you force them out, you risk damaging the brick or concrete they are anchored in and if they do come out, the hole will no longer be the correct diameter for the anchor.
Hi kcg65. These anchors are not removable from your wall. in order to refinish with sheet rock over brick, you will most likely have to remove the nut/washer and grind the anchor down until it is flush with the brick. If you have any further questions, please contact customer service at 877-489-2726.
It depends on the application. Pull out strength and holding strength are much different. If you mount this to a wall and are hanging something from it, holding strength will be well over 5000lb based on the material and diameter. If you are asking about pullout strength, that depends on the material it is secured to...brick, stone, concrete, etc. The wall material will fail before the fastener.
Maybe 400 pounds for square feet
