A: Yes, we used only 2. I think it looks better that way. It is straight and sturdy and does not move.

A: The shelf will hold it, but it sits loosely on the brackets. I will anchor my shelves with museum clay or something else sticky and non damaging. I anchor all my collectibles with the stuff because I live in earthquake country!
