Q:I painted wood (MDF) with Rust-Oleium Painter's Touch 2X in Satin French Lilac, after priming. Would you recommend applying a clear coat to finish? Someone told that a satin clear coat could interfere with the appearance of the satin paint.

Love this product!

Great Multi-purpose Paint!
I will tell you that this paint is well worth the costs! I used this paint to paint my front bumper on my truck and also the accessory panels. The color came out good and even better than the factory paint I purchased. I prepped the surface by rough sanding the plastic base for my headlight accessories plastic. Then I applied the paint in multiple light coats. It went on well and dried quickly.
I ordered a new front bumper that was primed but wanted to add an additional coating with this paint. I rough sanded it and layered this paint on well. After two or three coats the black primed bumper was completely covered and looked like my factory finish.
The nozzle is very well made too because it does not cause splotches like the factory paint can. Went on smoother than a baby's bottom! Great product! I will definitely use it again!

Beautiful color! Used it for a wicker desk set & it was painted a similar color but had some chipped paint showing on top/sides! I was so surprised with the color match and went on smoothly no drips! Used 1.5 cans of spray paint since I was able to color match! Nutmeg color is pretty and looks great with my my farmhouse, vintage & industrial decor! Very pleased!

Not clear at all, very frosted look
I have used various clearcoats before restoring headlights and other sun damaged plastics. They all worked about the same, after wet sanding the first coat would come out a little bit frosty, second coat completely clear.
This was not like that at all, this was frosty, and every coat after just frosted it more and more to the point that the transparent plastic was no longer transparent. This did the complete opposite of what I was expecting.

Hi Blain, this issue is caused by an over application of the clear in a single coat, causing hazing. To ensure a crystal clear finish, we recommend applying light, even coats a few minutes apart; building up the clear finish over multiple applications. We do not recommend our Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2x Ultra Cover Gloss Clear over headlights. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

paint came right off plastic
Paint was applied and cured for 24 hours, we moved the plastic play kitchen indoors, and the paint was already starting to come off. I would not recommend for use on plastic surfaces

The Painter’s Touch 2X paint was applied and cured for 24 hours, it scratched off while carrying the play kitchen indoors, would not recommend
