Hi, how long do I wait between coats if I want to sand lightly?

Asked by Andi May 27, 2021
1
Answer

Happy to help, Andi! In ideal conditions, Rust-Oleum Specialty Triple Thick Glaze Spray is dry after 24 hours. If you do sand between coats, we recommend waiting 24 hours after sanding before recoating as well since the paint film will have been opened again from sanding. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

can this be sprayed on a cnc carve to seal the woods a d then put epoxy resin over it? if not what do you recommend

Asked by pete March 5, 2021
1
Answer

Hi Pete, we haven't tested our Rust-Oleum Specialty Triple Thick Glaze for this type of use, though this coating may be applied to wood surfaces. Typically, with a pour-on epoxy resin, a lighter application of the same epoxy is recommended to seal the wood pores and prevent bubbling, using a brush to apply the epoxy in an even layer. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

Is this product water proof if applied on top of glitter as a sealant on a cup during hand washing?

Asked by Tanzy March 4, 2021
1
Answer

Thank you for reaching out! Rust-Oleum Specialty Triple Thick Glaze Spray can be used to help seal and protect surfaces. However, the more the surface is exposed to water, the more likely it is to blister and peel. We also do not recommend this for use on surfaces that will have direct contact with food or beverage or on surfaces where accidental ingestion can occur. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

Cracks the underlying paint
Not sure if I’m doing this wrong - but I tried to apply a clear coat 12 hours after the underlying paint, maybe I should wait longer? But right after I apply a thin coat of glaze it started cracking and I don’t want that. Now I have to sand down and paint again, or I’ll have to live with it. Plus, it smells much worse than the other rust-oleum paints that I have, of course when wearing masks. It also doesn’t appear to be as thick as I thought, it can still get scratched pretty easily. Very disappointed with this product.

Let's see what we can figure out. Rust-Oleum Specialty Triple Thick Glaze can be applied to wood, metal, wicker, plastic, glass, plaster, ceramic and paper. If the Triple Thick Glaze is cracking, the coating under the Glaze is either not properly cured, or it is not compatible with that coating. Give us a call at 800-481-4785 so we can hear more about your application and work to make things right.

I have used this product (Glaze); many times. Each and every project I have used on - mainly on indoor and outdoor terra cotta planters; which I have painted first and applied designs. I apply glaze and my finished product looks as if it was backed/glazed in a kiln. I recently spray painted several outdoor plastic containers that I had used for a few years. I cleaned and stenciled and applied high gloss onto my outdoor plastic containers and the finish looked great. I plan on using on a wood project I am painting and applying glaze to my finished product.

Best product of this type I've found for the price. I've been using it over a year to seal acrylic paint on garden art. What I like is how it transforms a finish into a glossy ceramic appearance. I also need a product that withstands weather and this one performs very well, even through Wisconsin winters. I use four coats to achieve a ceramic appearance.

I use this after painting rocks. It leaves an almost glasslike surface. I used several light coats until achieving that glassy finish, during between each coat . It dries faster when I do that. Heavy spraying will run & cause my rock to stick to the surface it's on & takes much longer to dry. Patience is the key to a beautiful finish!

Used this product after I painted a clay frog - great luster
The product gave my frog a glassy finish - it is quite thicker than the usual sprays. It made my frog come alive.....I first painted my frog and then applied the gloss triple thick spray. The gloss spray really makes a difference. Protects and makes all projects look better.
