The spray pattern coming out of the nozzle is poor leading to a lot of wasted paint. Most of the it goes spraying off in directions other than where you are aiming. A flat "fan" pattern would work much better. The other thing is the spring pressure on the nozzle is too strong. After 20 seconds your finger is aching from having to hold the nozzle down. This leads to difficulty being accurate, and once again, a lot of waste. I must say I don't understand why these companies, who do nothing except make paint, change stuff around only to make things worse. Why not just leave what works alone?

We understand your frustration. Rust-Oleum nozzles, including Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Automotive Primer, all have a specific type of nozzle to optimize performance. For best results, hold the can upright 10 to 16 inches from the surface and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can the same distance from the surface and in motion while spraying. To help with finger fatigue, you can use a Rust-Oleum Comfort Grip.

you always get the thumbs down when you go againts the grain, but this was horrible for the wood application that I used this on. ( it does say you can use on wood), but it dried like rubber. I let this set for about 6 hours, but it would not hold on the wood and wrinkled up when I wemt to sand it. I have worked in the autobody field for many years, and never had this issue. Maybe it works better on metal, but for would I say stay away. This is coming from someone that uses rustoleum products very often.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Automobile Primer Spray should be recoated within 1 hour of the previous coat or after 48 hours has passed. If you recoat before the first application of paint has skinned over and begun to dry to the touch, the two coats will dry correctly. However, if recoated at the wrong time, it may wrinkle blister or crack, which sounds like what you are experiencing. Simply put, to apply a second coat, the first coat must be very dry or very wet - never in between. To fix this, try sanding the surface, wait 24 hours, and apply again. Rustoleum

    Best spray primer for price!
I've been using this all summer on metal and epoxy filler as well as old paint. With multiple thin coats the results are fantastic. Fills nicely and dries smooth. Will buildup if oversprayed, but sands easily. Good adhesion on multiple surfaces.
