Can this be used to paint formica cabinets? Would any other product be needed in addition?

Asked by fashionista41 June 16, 2021
1
Answer

In order to paint your Formica Cabinets with the Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel, we'd first suggest use of a primer such as the Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Universal Bonding Primer Spray Paint. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Stops-Rust-12-oz-Universal-Bonding-Primer-Spray-6-Pack-285011/205926957 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 1

Can this be used on brick edging?

Asked by Lee June 6, 2021
1
Answer

Thanks for asking, Lee. Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Spray is suitable for use over metal and wood surfaces and wouldn't be able to dry or adhere well to brick. Instead, we recommend using Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Ultra Cover 2X Spray. https://www.homedepot.com/b/Rust-Oleum-Painters-Touch-2X/N-5yc1vZbm2/Ntk-EnrichedProductInfo/Ntt-painter%27s%2Btouch?NCNI-5&storeSelection=8431,1922,1944,6981,1969&experienceName=default - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

Can this paint be used to paint kitchen cabinet hinges?

Asked by Adele May 30, 2021
1
Answer

Thank you for reaching out, Adele! Yes, Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Spray Paint can be used to paint interior metal hardware. However, please keep in mind we recommend spraying in a well ventilated space, and we recommend allowing the paint to cure for at least 7 days prior to installing to prevent the finish from scratching. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

Does Rustoleum professional aluminum primer bond well with this topcoat? After a few days in the...

Asked by desertmiles May 27, 2021
1
Answer

Thank you for reaching out! Keep in mind that these coatings will not reach full hardness and adhesion for 7-10 days, so further curing time may be needed prior to testing for scratch resistance. Our Rust-Oleum Professional Aluminum Primer is compatible with our Stops Rust Protective Enamel Sprays. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

Can i use on unpainted wood

Asked by Cian May 25, 2021

Answer

Thank you for reaching out! Our Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Sprays are designed for use on metal surfaces, however, they may also be applied to wood. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

Can use this paint for driveways/concrete?

Asked by Jeff May 23, 2021
2
Answers

Glad to help out, Jeff. We don't recommend using Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Spray on a floor or driveway because it is not a floor-grade coating and will not hold up well to foot or vehicle traffic. It will wear away quickly. Instead, we recommend using Rust-Oleum Seal-Krete Epoxy-Seal. https://www.homedepot.com/s/Epoxy%2520seal?NCNI-5 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

Will this product stop rusting from black steel pipe that are exposed to the exterior coniditins.

Asked by Auz May 15, 2021
1
Answer

Thank you for reaching out! Oil-based coatings such as our Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Sprays should not be applied directly over galvanized metal or coatings containing zinc. Prior to applying Stops Rust Protective Enamel, an appropriate primer should be applied to seal the zinc, such as our Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Universal Bonding Primer: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Stops-Rust-12-oz-Universal-Bonding-Primer-Spray-6-Pack-285011/205926957 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

Do you have to use a primer before using this paint?

Asked by christie May 14, 2021
1
Answer

Happy to help, Christie While a primer isn't absolutely necessary with Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Spray Paint, you'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes in most projects. Primers make colors pop, help topcoats go on more efficiently and prepare surfaces like bare wood, metal, and rust before painting. Please keep in mind, this product is intended for use on metal, wood, and previously painted surfaces. If wanting to paint other surface types, then a primer is most likely needed to ensure full adhesion. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

I have two outdoor rocking chairs that are a glossy white. Im going to habe to do some sanding on some spots as well as overall painting.

Answers

Happy to help! Yes, Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Spray Paint is suitable for use on previously painted exterior surfaces. Make sure any loose paint is removed, and smooth, hard, or glossy surfaces are lightly sanded. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

Does raw wood need to be primed before applying Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Gloss paint?

Asked by RedStevens April 27, 2021
1
Answer

Happy to help. When using Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Spray Paint on bare wood, we recommend first priming with Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Clean Metal Primer. Priming will ensure superior adhesion and hide of the top coat. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Stops-Rust-12-oz-Flat-White-Clean-Metal-Primer-Spray-7780830/100143442 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 6

Excellent coverage, great appearance
Six cans of Maui Blue Gloss spray paint, costing a little over $25 in all, were enough to completely cover an old steel mesh patio set (a large round table, four chairs, two rocking chairs, and a small side table) in two coats. Highly recommend!

Nice coverage without the need of primer
I like the way the product delivers the paint based on how do you spray without a problem. As long you’re doing light coats the stuff really delivers to show excellence at the end of the job. It’s is made in USA and it’s priced just right. You can’t miss on this one!

GS500E Motorcycle Highlight Parts
I've also attached my attempt with the Rustoleum Regal Red Enamel Gloss Protective, the color was horrible compared to the Dupli-color. The finish is much more professional with the Dupli-color. I used to airbrush a lot more than now, and this is a comparable experience. I no longer have an exhaust and hood due to COVID-19, so, this is the next best option for DIY. Instead of the Rustoleum Regal Red Enamel, I would suggest using the Dupli-color Cardinal Red BFM0306 for highlighting spare parts on my GS500E motorcycle. It was impossible to find the same red, and Colorrite costs over 16.95 for their aerosol, plus their clear coats which requires over $60 to purchase. So, this saved me. I'm currently working on the chain guard, engine guards, and will start working on the battery cover soon. This is the exact, if not close, Candy Anteres Red for Suzuki GS500E 1992 to 2009 bikes. I'm very happy. Bought the Perfect Match High Gloss Clear Coat BCL0125. Haven't done the top coat yet. But looking forward to it. Many reviews mentioned that the spray nozzle had issues. I did not have the same experience. I also used a spray grip, this helped to spray more evenly. I've used other Rustoleum products before, and am using the Rustoleum Black Sandable Primer before doing any of these coats. That is doing great. The other product that I also suggest is the rust prevention Rustoleum primer (comes in Bronze/Cooper color). Hope this helps.

We had some decorative pumpkins made from welded horseshoes. We painted them with this orange. One can was enough to paint all three pumpkins although there are a couple of spots that could use a little more paint. It will work well enough to have the pumpkins out for the fall and keep them protected while making them look good.

I have used rust-oleum on several different projects and I’m always happy with the way it turns out. This is the first time I’ve used the product on patio furniture. We used a wire brush first. It has a nice smooth finish and I’m looking forward to seeing how long it lasts.
