These hangers have very good holding because of the ribbed shaft.

Not worth the few dollars you save vs. alternative hooks
I was installing a small ceiling and did not want to spend more money than I needed to so I bought these hooks vs. the lag screw type hooks. Pounding a ring shank nail with a flat head into a piece of wood below you can be tricky enough. Pounding a ring shank nail that is already bent into a hard wood joist above your head is a lot more challenging. These hooks are steel but seemed soft and bent easily. I had to pre-drill holes into the joist in order to drive these hooks deep enough. Do yourself a favor and buy the screw in type of hooks and the special tool needed to drive them.
