The halts should be done in cool weather. Too late in season now. I would use a spray weed killer like the Spectracide weed stop, after 8-10 weeks from the time you payed the sod, you want to make sure it is well established before spraying. All so Scott’s starter fertilizer 4 weeks before would be ideal to get good root growth before spraying. Try the Scott’s my yard app also I have used it for years excellent app.

How safe is it for pets and children?

After any fertilizer application I always wipe my pet's feet off the first two days so they do not lick any toxic matter from their feet. If you watered in your application that should work. If children are playing in the yard they should not be "rolling" in the grass for a couple of days.

Can this be used in my garden

No. If vegetables are already planted you will have to pull or use round up on a sponge and manually wipe it on the weeds. After I pull my garden I spray round up to kill the weeds the again about 8 weeks before I plant. You can also use preen before planting to help prevent them from coming up during the growing season.

Answers

If seeding, overseeding, or laying sod first, do not apply Scotts Halts Crabgrass & Grassy Weed Preventer until the new grass has been mowed 4 times. The best time to apply Scotts Halts Crabgrass & Grassy Weed Preventer is in the spring before temperatures are consistently in the 80's. If there have been four consecutive days with temperatures 80 degrees or above, then it is typically too late to apply as the crabgrass has already germinated. Excellent results!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As evidenced by the photos attached, the Scotts WeedEx Prevent with Halts did an amazing job! I use to have a lot of weedy areas in my lawn. I spread the product about 3-4 weeks ago and the results have been outstanding! I am very pleased with this product.

I know it's important to use Halts at the proper time. In Green Bay, it is between the blossoming of Forsythia and the blossoming of the Lilacs. It's been our experience, that it's good to redo the spreading of Halts a couple of weeks later, as crab grass, etc, may have more than one see-producing time. It came quickly, the price was good, and we find it hard to lift and carry the bags, since we are both 80 years old, so the delivery to our door was exceptionally appreciated. .
