About This Product

Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun and Shade Mix thrives in a variety of conditions. This mix contains Root-Building Nutrition, a combination of ingredients that is expertly crafted to help establish deep roots to grow thick, green turf so that you can build a better, stronger lawn from the roots up. Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun and Shade Mix is designed for full Sun and dense shade and has medium drought resistance with medium to high durability. It can be used to seed a new lawn or overseed an existing lawn. For best results, apply in the spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 55°F and 70°F or air temperatures are between 60°F and 80°F. We recommend using a Scotts spreader to apply this product (please refer to spreader settings on product label). Water daily or as needed to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 in. tall. Answer This Question

A:  Scotts Grass Seed Sun and Shade Mix NPK is 4-0-0. We suggest preparing the seeding area by removing any weeds and tilling the area. Topsoil can be used to cover the seed, use no more than 1/4 inch when covering.

I had this delivered. It came broken. Seed on my porch and a hole in the seed bag itself, like a knife cut. I will never order delivery again. Who knows how much product was lost

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix and appreciate your feedback. Depending on conditions and the seed type, the grass can take from 6 to 14 days to start to germinate. Germination requires air temperatures consistently above 65 degrees F. Cool nighttime temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Cold weather will delay germination but will not hurt the seed. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination. If a weed control is used around the time of seeding, it will either prevent the seeds from germination outright or destroy the seedlings as they emerge. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.
              Built from scratch
Bought my sun and shade at one of the big box stores for a pretty good price. I was doing a full lawn renovation and took it down the soil. Had mostly weeds before. Planted sun and shade on May 20 2003 and worked on it over the next few months. It’s October 1st today and I’m very pleased. Planted some elite seed in the back from another vendor and don’t really notice that much of a difference.

                Best seed on the market
Planted Scott's Turf Builder sun and shad a few weeks ago having used different seed in different part of the lawn with poor results. This Scotts grew on concrete where topsoil and seeds spilled over. Outstanding product.

                    Garbage
Used this seed on several patches around my yard. Prepared the soil as directed and watered regularly. Nothing. A month later I tried again, but this time I combined it with the Scott's EZseed. Nothing. Not even one seed took, not even one new blade of grass. The pics were taken just over a week after the second application. Absolute thrilling pics! Yeah, I got pictures of .... dirt. Suitable for framing. SMH

I used a lot of seed and constant watering…lawn was transformed! Took a few rounds and multiple bags of seed, but 100% worth it! Thanks Scott’s!

I had lost about 3/4 of my lawn. I really didn’t want to sod it, I thought it would take to long to grow. After following the instructions, and wouldn’t you in 3 weeks my lawn was full of grass, Scott’s turf builder is the best and will not cost you an arm and leg.

                      Wow!
Look at this difference we have 3 dogs that destroyed our yard and we are sectioning it off so the dogs didn’t ruin the seeding

                        Water water water
Highly recommend! It works!! I over seeded my lawn on 4/15/2023. There exactly 2 months later. Watering it is a major key. I used to water it 3 times a day for 3 weeks. Then 2 times a day for another 2 weeks. Then 1 time a day and now every other day. Don’t hesitate to buy it.
