About This Product

Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Pacific Northwest Mix is a premium mix of Fine Fescue and Perennial Ryegrass, specially crafted for Pacific Northwest lawns with root-building nutrition. The combination seed, fertilizer, and soil improver can be used for growing a new lawn or overseeding an existing lawn. Follow these 3 steps: 1) prep the area, 2) apply the seed, and 3) rake the seed into the soil. For best results, plant seed in the spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 55°F and 70°F, or air temperatures between 60°F and 80°F. Water daily or as needed to keep the soil moist for at least 3 weeks or until seedlings reach 2 inches in height. Scotts goes to great lengths to bring you the freshest seed available, incorporating everything from the packaging design to the product formula and the seed itself, so you can grow your own thick, beautiful lawn. For best results, always use fresh product. After opening, plant within the season.

    Q:Is it pet safe?
    by|Jun 4, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Pets, such as cats and dogs, should be removed from the area before applying Turf Builder Grass Seed Pacific Northwest Mix with Root-Building Nutrition. Pets may return to the lawn immediately after the application. To avoid damage to new germinating grass, you may want to limit the traffic on those areas by people and pets.

      Very happy with the results!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Son had put a pile of dirt on a tarp on the grass and forgot about it. First picture is what happened. Used the Pacific Northwest Mix to repair the damage. Directions were easy to follow and seed was easy to spread. After three weeks the results were amazing! Now I'm going to use it to repair some old dog spots!

        Success!
After killing off the existing lawn, I laid down these seeds on October 4. I saw sprouts on around day 6. By October 21, it was filling up nicely. Fast forward to March and my lawn is looking beautiful. It took some work and lots of patience but the end result was very rewarding.

Pacific NW Grass Seed Mix Grows & Builds Turf!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Pacific Northwest Mix grows well in the climate I live in. The Pacific Northwest has wet winters and my area has lots of fir trees which shade my lawn. Its great to find grass seed that is designed to flourish in these conditions.

            Good seed for Oregon weather
Tore out old sod lawn, and did new seeded lawn with this Pacific NW blend. It germinated quickly ( majority of it ) and has been thickening up nicely over last few weeks. This was my 4th mow today, at 6 weeks since seeding. I put some ammonium sulfate on it at about 4 weeks, and it has REALLY taken off/ GREENED UP since then!! Super GREEN!

              False advertising
After spending 4 weeks prepping around my house to seed I spread the seed the same week as my hay farmer neighbors. It has been a month and not a single blade of grass has grown. After reading the bag again I noticed temps between 60 and 80 which contradicts the early fall that they say and should say plant mid summer in the northwest to get those temps. There’s no reason the hay farmers fields should be 6” tall and mine hasn’t sprouted once. Will never buy Scott’s again. Now I have to go the entire winter with bare soil surrounding my property before I seed next spring. Shame on you for saying early fall for nw blend then saying no temps below 60.

Response from Customer CareNov 6, 2023
We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Pacific Northwest Mix and appreciate your feedback. If you seeded too late and depending on continued temperatures grass seed may remain dormant and germinate in the Spring. Germination time is based on ideal conditions of soil warmth and a constant amount of moisture. Cool season grasses germinate best when temperatures are consistently in the 60-80 degree range. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.
