It may depend on the code in your area. I did use on my line but we used it at least 2 feet away from the actual tank - we kept the initial 1st copper turn that was there on the prior tank.. It seems to be working very well right now. Good luck.
Steel wool will definitely work
Yes.

Hello, We do not currently offer any fittings that are suitable for use with 1-1/2" PVC. We would also not recommend the use of these products in drainage installations and they have not been tested for use in this application. If you have additional questions please don't hesitate to reach out to our technical support department at 877-700-4242. Best Regards,
Hello, SharkBite part # U248LFJ8 contains 8 1/2" elbows. If you have additional questions please don't hesitate to reach out to our technical support department at 877-700-4242. Best Regards,
Modern RVs use PEX pipe or PEX tubing. It is cheaper and easier to install than metal tubing. PEX tubing comes in all colors, but red tubes are normally used for hot water, and blue ones for cold water. I found this by just googling "what kind of plumbing pipes are used in campers" I'm also guessing that the size is 3/8" and not half inch. Perhaps even a quarter of an inch. I just replaced my electric tankless hot water heater in my singlewide. It only took 90 minutes. I have half inch copper for the cold water inlet and the hot water outlet because copper is required there. I already had 3/8 inch copper tubing but I did use half inch cold water (blue pex) for some of the cold water incoming. I used Shark Bite fittings for the whole job. That's why the replacement went so fast. My dad had a motor home and he thought the pump quit working. I just tapped on it and it worked OK. It reminded me of a ball point pen that you click to get the pen to come out and then click again to make the pen retract. There is not much water pressure so the fittings are flimsy. Those little round metal things with a screw that you turn to tighten the fitting was all that was needed.
The only time you remove the support liner is when using copper pipe otherwise leave it in
Yes, they are approved for underground use, usually with irrigation systems.
