Product Overview

SharkBite 1/2 in. Push-to-Connect Brass End Stop Fitting is the fastest way to connect PEX, Copper, CPVC, PE-RT, or HDPE pipe in any combination. No soldering, clamps, unions, glue, or special tools required. Simply insert the pipe and the teeth bite down and grip tight, while a specially formulated O-ring compresses to create a watertight seal. Changes can easily be made by rotating the fitting after installation. Removing the fitting is just as fast using a disconnect tool so fittings and valves can be easily changed or reused. Designed with stainless steel gripping teeth for a secure connection, chlorine-resistant O-ring for a long-lasting seal and backed by a 25-year warranty.

After much reading and videos of seeing and not believing how easy this would be to install, I installed 3 quicker than it took to cut the 1/2 inch copper pipe. I just cleaned the pipe with Emory cloth prior to cutting off old angle stops first then deburr the edges a little and pushed the fittings on. I used 3 caps as of now and they are a life saver knowing they are easily removable and reusable. This is helping me a lot as I demo my bathroom and knowing 2 fittings will be re routed anyways. I just needed to stop the water flow.

When we added an extension washroom, the guys left the old washer hookup with valve connected. Of course eventually, the valve would fail which it did. Fortunately I caught it early. My first thought was to cut out the valve stub-outs, and use the Sharkbite end stop to cap off the copper pipe. But then I discovered how "easy" it is just replace the valve. Since space limitations would make it somewhat difficult to cut out the old valve stub-outs, I decided to try a new valve. Got the replacement valve and it didn't fit. The on-center was correct, but I couldn't even get the valve on the stub-outs. I had 2 of the Sharbite end stops so the decision was made. I cut out the valve stub-outs with a multi-tool, yes not recommended. There was no way to get a pipe cutter in there without cutting the box and I didn't want to do that. After cutting I then filed and sand papered to make sure the end of the copper pipe was smooth. Even getting the end stop on wasn't easy due to the limited space and other constraints. Once I got it on, turned on the water...No leaks! Awesome! Checked it a couple of days later and all is good. This is a definite recommend!

I'm a plumber now!! Well at least I was able to seal off a leaking copper pipe I found in my bathroom remodeling. 5 minutes tops including water shutoff - I also bought and used the deburring tool (Home Depot internet item #100638148).

It Doesn't Get Easier Than This
Sometimes the cheapest way to do something is not the best way. That's usually the case with these end caps, particularly if plumbing isn't your strong suit. If you've soldered a plumbing joint, you know that the existence of water in the line will make it difficult or impossible to liquify the solder sufficiently to get a good seal -- it may look good, but it will immediately or eventually leak. So if you've got a leaky pipe, that you can't easily shut down, what's your solution? If you're using a torch in a confining space with combustible material (wood sheathing) nearby, and no fireproof backing, you're literally playing with fire. All this to save a buck? I've used these end caps in exactly these situations, and they were fantastic. Nothing could be easier to install (or disassemble if necessary). Just be sure the pipe is cut cleanly (no jagged edges). My experience with all the Sharkbite fittings, is that they don't leak -- period. Highly recommend them, particularly for the occasional plumber.

I have used several SharkBite products. Worth every penny to me. They have worked without issue. Can be removed if needed. Don't have to wait for glue to cure when using these. I won't use it for everything, but in a pinch they are handy and easy to install. I used this to cap off a line while the glue cured on the other section. That way I could still have running water while waiting.
