About This Product

SharkBite Max push-to-connect fittings are the fastest way to transition from existing polybutylene pipe to PEX, copper, CPVC or PE-RT pipe. A newly designed stainless steel collet retainer delivers additional strength and durability and provides a 400 PSI pressure rating. SharkBite Max fittings don't require a PEX tube liner and a re-engineered body allows you to insert the pipe using less force and greater ease. No soldering, clamps, unions, glue or special tools required. After inserting the pipe, stainless steel teeth bite down and grip the pipe tightly while a specially formulated O-ring compresses around the pipe to create a watertight seal. The fitting can be rotated after installation for quick adjustments and removing the fitting is just as fast with a disconnect tool, allowing fittings and valves to be changed or reused. (SharkBite push-to-connect fittings are the fastest when compared to other conventual plumbing methods. All other comparisons relate to first generation SharkBite push-to-connect products).

Works great - so simple and easy. No issues at all with leaking. I had to replace a 30 year old leaky shutoff valve- used these snakebite products for the shutoff and the elbow as you see in the picture.

This is a review of SharkBite's #137 1/2 x 1/2 PEX-to-PBT transition elbow. Backstory: having used crimp rings/tools for years, these arthritic hands haave given up the ghost. Being a plumbing skeptic, years of experience has shown me I don't want to be an 'early adopter'. I mean, isn't that how we got into the PBT [aka Quest] mess in the first place? So the first time I laid eyes on SharkBite fittings, I got to tell you I wasn't a convert. I mean, how could something so easy to use ... toolless ... not leak from the get go and hold up for years plus? So it might not be that I can tell you these will never leak, I can tell you since first using them 10+ years ago, I haven't had one. will they leak in another 20 years? All I can say is, if they do, I won't be around to tell you. Bottom line. Simple, simple to use. Easy on the hands. 100% success rate to-date. No more trying to get my hands onto the crimping tools [rings or bands] while under the house.

I have been a builder remodeler for 50 years, and as such I have had many opportunities to install plumbing. But often, when remodeling and adding or modifying a line, a product like this SHARKBITE 1/2 IN. PUSH-TO-CONNECT BRASS 90-DEGREE POLYBUTYLENE CONVERSION ELBOW FITTING fits the bill well. While they are more expensive for the materials, the savings in time and setup will more than compensate for the added material cost, so it thereby provides an alternative.

I have used the Shark Bite elbows, valves, and couplings on quite a few occasions and have found them to be excellent in quality and most importantly...... They don't leak.... Yay!. I like the fact that they slide together with no sweating or trying to turn the fitting tight and you can still adjust the fitting on the pipe to align it the way you want it. I have used these on copper and CPVC with no problems, I do not see that using this fitting with Poly B will pose any problem at all. I would like them to offer a belt buckle, I would wear it.

It must be said that the Shark Bite family of connectors is without a doubt the best connectors on the market. They are easy to use, virtually leak proof, removable and reusable and for at least the 13 years we have been in this polybutylene piped house have never failed. ( and I have used many ) They are extremely good when used in connection with Pex or copper to replace poly. One factor not mentioned often is you can install them in a blind spot without having to worry about setting the place on fire with a torch and lead couplings, even if you could get a torch in a tight, blind spot. They are a little more expensive to use but the convenience and safety factors way compensate for that. Enough said.

Shark bite is the present and the future. I honestly use sharkbite for all of my plumbing needs. It is the adult version of legos. NO more welding for me. Go from copper to pex in no time. Make sure you buy yourself on of those pex cutting tools. Makes it so much easier. I have used these for years and there has not been one joint that failed. I am sure plumbers hate this.

It's Shark Bite, so you know it's quality. I do a lot of renovation work, and since I started using Shark Bite my labor time and effort have gone down substantially, while the quality is at my usual high level. The price is offset by the lower labor cost. Shark Bite is easy to install and just as easy to remove for future up grades. Makes converting from copper a cinch even for a DIY'er!

I love Shark Bite fittings. Sometimes you need at conversion fitting. This one is one of the best. 1/2" piping is standard in both residential and commercial setting. This elbow makes an repair quick and easy. Make sure you have the disconnect tool in case you need to take it apart at some point. I keep one in stock at all time. I have never had a leak with a Shark Bite push to connect product in the last 10 years since I started using them.
